About the Role
Join a New York real estate law practice advising developers, property owners, institutional clients, and investors on land use, zoning, and residential real estate regulation. Your work will support acquisitions and development projects, as well as applications for approvals across New York City.
What You'll Do
Conduct zoning due diligence for acquisitions and financings, and prepare written analyses of floor area, use, bulk, height, and setbacks.
Advise clients on development rights transactions, including air rights purchases and sales and zoning lot development agreements.
Prepare and manage land use applications, including ULURP, BSA variances and special permits, landmark matters, and environmental review.
Coordinate with architects, consultants, community boards, and elected officials during public review.
Work with transactional attorneys on acquisitions and development projects.
Advise property owners on rent regulation matters, DHCR proceedings, acquisition due diligence, tenant buyouts, building vacates, and demolition projects.
What We're Looking For
Four to ten years of experience in New York residential rent regulatory law, including Rent Stabilization, ETPA, and HSTPA, and substantial familiarity with the NYC Zoning Resolution.
New York Bar admission and experience with zoning analysis, land use applications, and DHCR proceedings.
Experience representing landlords or owners, including advising on real estate transactions and development projects.
Strong academic credentials and a record of sustained employment, with an average tenure of three or more years per role.
Prior real estate industry experience is a plus. A portable book of business may be considered for member or partner-level opportunities.
Compensation & Benefits
Annual salary: $250,000 to $275,000. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Location
Hybrid role based in New York, New York, with three days in the office each week. Wednesday and Thursday are anchor days.
