The Opportunity
As the Actuary leading MSSP valuation, you'll play a key role in shaping our program development, building reserving models and owning financial reporting for the program from end to end. Your insights will be visible and essential, providing the clarity that enables our leadership to make critical decisions and ensures our physician partners thrive in value-based care.
If you’re driven by the desire to take ownership, translate complexity into action, and see your work directly impact the future of healthcare, this could be a great fit.
Who We Are
Pearl Health is dedicated to empowering primary care providers, health systems, and physician-led networks to succeed in the shift to value-based care. Our platform delivers the technology, financial tools, and expert services that enable practices to provide more proactive, effective care to their Medicare patients, ultimately lowering costs and improving health outcomes.
Founded in 2020, we are a team of healthcare and technology innovators backed by premier investors like Andreessen Horowitz, Viking Global Investors, and AlleyCorp. We partner with thousands of providers across 44 states to build a more sustainable future for American healthcare.
What You'll Do
You'll own valuation and reserving for Pearl's MSSP ACO book, from model build to the financial close.
Rebuild, update and own Pearl's MSSP valuation model, managing monthly and quarterly closes.
Set IBNR reserves and deliver the monthly results that feed Pearl's financial reporting.
Reconcile prior performance year results against final CMS settlement, and build forecasts for each new performance year as new ACO partners join.
Define how Pearl interprets MSSP data and partner with Engineering to implement that logic.
Partner cross functionally with Operations, Customer Success, Engineering and Data Science teams
What You’ll Bring
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring a blend of technical expertise, intellectual curiosity, and a collaborative spirit.
Must-haves:
6+ years of relevant actuarial experience, deep domain knowledge of MSSP offerings.
A Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
Advanced spreadsheet analytical and modeling skills (such as Excel or Google Sheets).
Strong data analysis skills leveraging SQL.
Nice-to-haves:
Experience using Python for data analysis and automation.
Strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex financial information to non-technical audiences and executive leadership.
Experience working within an ACO environment (or similar).
A track record of impact within a growing, fast-paced startup environment.
ASA or FSA designation.
