Lead Agentic Artificial Intelligence (AI) Architect

We’re looking for a Lead Agentic Artificial Intelligence (AI) Architect to join our team in Gothenburg, Sweden, in a hybrid working mode (3 days a week on client site). Offering high visibility within EPAM’s European Data & AI Practice, this role combines deep expertise in generative and agentic AI with seasoned consulting experience to deliver measurable business value for large enterprises. You will shape the agentic L1 architecture, coordinate cross-functional teams and partner with leadership - including the Head of Digital Excellence - to drive critical architectural decisions to closure.

Our client is embarking on a multi-year AI transformation journey to optimize core business processes, drive enterprise growth, and build innovative AI services with robust compliance and governance. As the program transitions from agentic discovery into structured scale, you will provide the senior execution capacity needed to turn strategic vision into decision-ready architecture and align demanding stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, manage the L1/2/3 architecture and define each architectural layer concretely in terms of agentic priority capabilities
• Consolidate scale-and-deploy frameworks (such as Agent Studio) with existing enterprise layer models, resolving overlaps into a single, coherent target view
• Make architecture layers actionable by defining how each capability is realized using modern platforms, including the Model Context Protocol (MCP) gateway, in close collaboration with foundational product teams
• Rapidly develop strategic positions on enterprise ecosystems such as SAP, Salesforce and ServiceNow as agentic runtimes and determine how each fits into the North Star architecture
• Lead structured technical discussions with vendors to evaluate their offerings and determine their placement within the target architecture
• Drive initiatives to embed agreed safety, governance and compliance principles directly into the architecture and delivery methodology
• Design and facilitate decision-focused workshops that bring key stakeholders into one room to close critical decisions in a single session
• Guide existing teams, produce high-quality supporting materials and drive deliverables successfully to completion
• Collaborate closely with key stakeholders including the Head of Digital Excellence, AI Program Leads, Lead AI Architect, Head of AI Platform and Foundational Product Team Leads

Requirements

• Extensive experience in enterprise or solution architecture, with recent, hands-on experience designing and deploying agentic AI architectures
• Strong working knowledge of Model Context Protocol (MCP) and agent orchestration patterns
• Familiarity with agentic capabilities across major enterprise platforms such as SAP, Salesforce and ServiceNow
• Proven track record of synthesizing architectural work from multiple consultancies and vendors into a single, cohesive target architecture
• Experience facilitating senior architecture forums and driving cross-functional groups to timely, actionable decisions
• Exposure to large, federated enterprise clients, with an automotive, manufacturing or heavy industry background being a strong plus
• Possesses executive-level credibility, yet remains willing to dive into the technical details and do the execution work
• Able to hold ground and constructively challenge strong client architects and stakeholders
• Takes initial direction, actively engages stakeholders and independently drives and reports on progress
• Demonstrates a strong bias for closing decisions and finalizing deliverables rather than extending discussions
