Our animated kids' channel Spike has grown into one of our biggest YouTube projects — its episodes regularly reach millions of views, and now we're scaling the next frontier: YouTube Shorts, at mass-production volume. That's where you come in. We're looking for a Lead AI Content Creator to own the entire Spike Shorts operation — from idea to published video, from AI pipeline to the team of editors producing it. You'll be equal parts creator, systems builder, and team lead: someone who can cut a great Short themselves, design the AI workflow that lets the team produce dozens more, and lead the editors who make it happen every day. What You Will Do: Own the mass production of Spike Shorts for YouTube — you are responsible for the volume, quality, and consistency of everything the Shorts pipeline puts out; Turn long-form episodes into Shorts — find the strongest moments in our episode library and repackage them into scroll-stopping vertical videos; Create brand-new Shorts from the idea stage — jump on trends, adapt viral formats to the Spike universe, or write completely original scenarios and take them from script to screen; Build and run a smooth AI-first production workflow — select the tools, engineer the prompts, create templates and repeatable systems that let the team produce at scale without sacrificing quality; Lead and manage the Spike Shorts editors — distribute tasks, set the quality bar, review output, give feedback, run 1:1s, and grow your team as production scales; Watch the numbers and iterate — track Shorts performance (views, retention, swipe-away, subscriber conversion), learn what works for our audience, and feed those learnings back into ideas and workflow; Stay ahead of the curve — test emerging AI video tools and YouTube Shorts trends before everyone else, and bring the best of them into production. What We Expect: Proven experience producing short-form video content (YouTube Shorts, TikTok, or Reels) — a portfolio or channel we can watch; Hands-on experience with AI content tools beyond casual prompting — AI video generation, image generation, voice synthesis, and LLM-assisted scripting (e.g. Runway, Kling, Veo, Midjourney, ElevenLabs, ChatGPT/Claude or similar) — and the ability to build workflows others can execute; Strong editing skills in Premiere Pro, After Effects, CapCut Pro, or similar; Experience leading or mentoring editors/creators, or clear readiness to step into people management; A storyteller's instinct — you understand hooks, pacing, and what makes kids' and family content perform in the first 3 seconds; Understanding of YouTube Shorts metrics and the algorithm — you make content decisions based on data, not just taste; Ability to manage high-volume output and multiple priorities without dropping the quality bar; Fluent English (spoken and written); Bonus points for: experience with animated or kids' content; experience scaling a Shorts/TikTok channel from scratch; scriptwriting experience.
