Job Description

Responsibilities

As an Lead AI Engineer at NSC, you will have the opportunity to work remotely, with fixed working hours from 7AM to 4PM Vietnam time (the rest is flexible).

We are building an AI-powered product in which autonomous agents process documents and run workflows in the background, with humans reviewing at key steps. We're looking for a Lead AI Engineer to set the technical direction and build the core of it: the AI pipelines, the backend services, the database, and the infrastructure to run it all reliably in production.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You'll make the key architecture and technology decisions, write production code yourself, and work in an international, English-speaking team alongside backend and frontend engineers and product stakeholders.

Main responsibilities:

• Own the technical direction: evaluate and decide the AI and backend stack (cloud, LLM approach, vector/graph databases) and explain the trade-offs clearly to the team and stakeholders.
• Build AI agents and pipelines in Python and/or Node.js: LLM integrations, RAG, and processing of documents such as PDFs, DOCX, and PPTX.
• Design event-driven, asynchronous systems where agents run on schedules or triggers in the background.
• Own the data layer: design and manage PostgreSQL and a vector database for storing and retrieving data efficiently.
• Run AI in production (AgentOps and DevOps): set up CI/CD, containers, and monitoring so agents are observable, reliable, and cost-aware.
• Protect sensitive data: implement PII masking in the ingestion flow and meet data residency requirements.
• Add human review where it matters: build Human-in-the-Loop steps into data ingestion and agent actions.
• Guide the team: set engineering standards, review code and designs, and support other engineers on AI-related work.

Job Requirements

Technical Skills

• 5+ years in software/backend engineering, including at least 2 years building LLM or AI-agent applications. The CV must show clear dates for the LLM work.
• At least one LLM/agent project running in production (real users or real data, not a POC or demo), with dates and roles stated.
• Design an AI pipeline of agents (for data extraction and other features)
• Hands-on RAG and agent workflow implementation in that project (agents calling tools across multiple steps), not just a chatbot calling an API.
• Has processed PDF, DOCX or PPTX documents in a pipeline (parsing, chunking, extraction). At least one format.
• Python or Node.js as primary language for at least the last 3 years.
• At least one project where the candidate made architecture or tech stack decisions. Design and set up the correct stack for each project/challenge. The CV states what was decided.
• PostgreSQL in real projects, plus hands-on use of at least one vector database (pgvector, Pinecone, Qdrant, Weaviate, Milvus, etc.).
• Hands-on cloud experience (AWS preferred, GCP/Azure accepted), Docker, and CI/CD set up by the candidate (GitHub Actions or equivalent).
• Experience building asynchronous background processing (queues, schedulers, workers) in any backend system; agent-specific experience not required.
• Design a database with the proper entities and relationships
• English: confident discussing technical topics and explaining trade-offs in an English interview.
• CV clearly states role and responsibilities per project

Nice-to-have

• Experience with PII masking, data privacy, or meeting data residency requirements.
• Has designed Human-in-the-Loop steps (human review within a pipeline).
• Hands-on Kubernetes.
• Has used LLM observability tools (Langfuse, LangSmith, Helicone, Arize, etc.).
• Graph database experience (Neo4j, etc.).
• B2B SaaS experience, especially taking a product from MVP to production scale.
• Supabase or a similar BaaS.
• Understanding of financial compliance; prior work for fintech, banking or insurance.
• Has led or mentored engineers and reviewed code for a team.
• Side projects or open-source work on agents/RAG with viewable code.
