Global Placement Firm is conducting a confidential search for experienced Lead Personal Injury Attorneys to help establish and grow an innovative, technology-enabled plaintiff-side personal injury practice in California.

This is an exceptional opportunity for attorneys with 3+ years of plaintiff-side personal injury experience who want to build and lead a practice without assuming the financial risks typically associated with launching an independent law firm.

Our client is expanding its legal services and seeking entrepreneurial, client-focused attorneys who are passionate about representing injured individuals, achieving meaningful outcomes, and developing a modern approach to personal injury law.

The ideal candidate combines strong personal injury case management experience, sound legal judgment, a commitment to exceptional client service, and an interest in helping shape a growing legal practice.

Position Overview

As a Lead Personal Injury Attorney, you will have the opportunity to build and manage a plaintiff-side personal injury practice with access to established operational resources, technology professionals, marketing support, and capital to invest in client representation and case development.

Unlike a traditional associate position, this role provides substantial autonomy over case selection, litigation strategy, client relationships, and practice development.

You will represent injured clients throughout the legal process, from initial consultation and case evaluation through settlement negotiations, mediation, litigation, and trial when necessary.

You will also collaborate with company leadership, software engineers, marketing professionals, and operations teams to develop a more efficient, client-centered personal injury practice.

This position is particularly well suited for an attorney who has considered opening an independent law firm but prefers the support, infrastructure, and financial resources of an established organization.

Key Responsibilities

Personal Injury Representation & Case Management

  • Represent plaintiffs in personal injury matters, primarily involving motor vehicle accidents and premises liability claims.
  • Manage cases from initial intake and evaluation through negotiation, settlement, litigation, or trial.
  • Assess potential claims and determine appropriate case acceptance strategies.
  • Develop and execute legal strategies designed to maximize client recoveries.
  • Conduct legal research, analyze liability and damages, and evaluate case merits.
  • Oversee the collection and review of medical records, accident reports, witness statements, and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate with medical professionals, investigators, expert witnesses, and other litigation resources as needed.
  • Maintain direct responsibility for case progress, client communication, and legal outcomes.

Litigation, Negotiation & Resolution

  • Represent injured clients in pre-litigation negotiations, mediation, and litigation proceedings.
  • Negotiate settlements with insurance companies, defense counsel, and other parties.
  • Prepare and oversee pleadings, discovery, motions, and other litigation documents.
  • Develop strategies for resolving complex liability and damages disputes.
  • Prepare cases for mediation, arbitration when applicable, and trial.
  • Participate in depositions, hearings, and court proceedings as required.
  • Collaborate with litigation support professionals and outside resources when appropriate.
  • Maintain high standards of legal ethics, professionalism, and advocacy.

Client Experience & Relationship Management

  • Deliver exceptional, compassionate, and responsive service to individuals navigating personal injury claims.
  • Guide clients through the legal process with clear explanations and consistent communication.
  • Meet clients in person when necessary to support case development and client relationships.
  • Establish client communication standards that promote accessibility, transparency, and trust.
  • Ensure clients receive timely updates regarding case progress and important developments.
  • Advocate for clients with professionalism, empathy, and sound legal judgment.
  • Build long-term trust through strong representation and consistently positive client experiences.

Practice Development & Leadership

  • Help establish and expand a plaintiff-side personal injury practice in California.
  • Participate in decisions regarding case acceptance, legal strategy, staffing, and operational priorities.
  • Collaborate with company leadership on the long-term direction of the practice.
  • Contribute to hiring, developing, and managing legal and non-attorney support staff.
  • Establish efficient case management processes and legal practice standards.
  • Help develop a scalable operating model that supports practice growth without compromising client service.
  • Participate in continuing legal education, professional development, and team training.
  • Contribute to building a collaborative, high-performing legal team.

Technology, Marketing & Operational Collaboration

  • Work closely with software engineers, product teams, marketing professionals, and operations leaders.
  • Help design technology-enabled processes that improve case management and client communication.
  • Partner with marketing teams to establish a differentiated and trusted personal injury practice.
  • Collaborate with product teams to develop service standards, including after-hours client support.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline administrative workflows and improve operational efficiency.
  • Provide attorney input into systems and processes that support client intake, case evaluation, and case progression.
  • Help shape a modern legal practice that combines strong advocacy with effective technology and operational support.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of plaintiff-side personal injury experience at a personal injury law firm.
  • Active license to practice law in California, in good standing.
  • Must currently be based in California.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited, nonprofit law school ranked approximately within the top 50 by U.S. News & World Report, as specified by the client.
  • Demonstrated experience handling motor vehicle accident and/or premises liability cases.
  • Proven ability to manage personal injury matters from intake through resolution.
  • Strong understanding of California personal injury law, liability analysis, damages evaluation, and settlement negotiations.
  • Experience developing case strategies and managing client relationships.
  • Excellent legal research, drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Strong professional ethics and a commitment to client advocacy.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality client service.
  • Strong organizational and case management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound legal judgment.
  • Professional career history and a strong record of client satisfaction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of plaintiff-side personal injury experience.

  • Trial experience or substantial exposure to trial preparation and litigation proceedings.
  • Experience supervising paralegals, legal assistants, case managers, or other non-attorney personnel.
  • Existing professional referral relationships within the California personal injury legal community.

  • Prior entrepreneurial experience or interest in launching an independent law firm.
  • Experience working in a startup or technology-enabled professional services environment.
  • Familiarity with modern legal practice management systems and workflow automation.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop efficient legal processes while maintaining excellent client outcomes.
  • Interest in mentoring legal professionals and helping build a growing practice.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial, mission-driven plaintiff-side personal injury attorney who wants to take ownership of a growing legal practice while benefiting from established operational and financial support.

You should be passionate about helping injured individuals, committed to achieving strong client outcomes, and interested in building a legal practice that prioritizes accessibility, professionalism, and exceptional service.

This opportunity is particularly attractive to attorneys who have considered starting their own firms but would prefer to focus on practicing law and serving clients rather than managing the financial and administrative burdens of an independent business.

We're Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has substantial hands-on plaintiff-side personal injury experience.
  • Understands the full lifecycle of motor vehicle and premises liability cases.
  • Can independently evaluate cases and develop effective legal strategies.
  • Is comfortable managing cases from intake through settlement or litigation.
  • Demonstrates empathy and a genuine commitment to helping injured clients.
  • Has strong client communication and relationship management skills.
  • Exercises sound judgment in case selection, negotiations, and litigation decisions.
  • Values teamwork, collaboration, and professional development.
  • Is interested in building and growing a modern legal practice.
  • Welcomes collaboration with technology, marketing, and operations professionals.
  • Maintains a professional, client-centered approach rather than an ego-driven practice style.
  • Has a strong professional reputation and record of ethical client representation.
  • Is motivated by both legal excellence and meaningful client outcomes.

Work Environment & Practice Model

This opportunity offers a distinctive combination of entrepreneurial independence and organizational support.

Attorneys will have meaningful control over their cases and legal strategies while working alongside professionals dedicated to helping the practice grow.

The organization provides access to resources supporting client acquisition, legal operations, technology development, and case investment.

Rather than requiring attorneys to build an independent practice entirely on their own, this model allows them to focus on legal representation and practice leadership.

The successful candidate will collaborate with experienced professionals across legal, product, marketing, engineering, and operations functions.

Continuing education and professional development are also important components of the practice's growth strategy.
