Lead Backend Engineer I .NET & AWS (remote)

About the role:

Join a major re-platforming initiative for an iconic global brand whose products and digital experiences are recognized and loved worldwide.

We are building a new, self-sufficient engineering team to modernize a high-traffic digital marketplace. As Backend Engineering Lead, you will guide a three-person team while remaining closely involved in architecture, design, and development.

Responsibilities:

• Lead a self-sufficient team consisting of a Backend Lead, Backend Engineer, and Backend/Full-Stack Engineer
• Provide technical direction and ensure sound engineering practices across the team
• Take ownership of delivery and help the team turn technical work into tangible product value
• Work closely with the Product Manager
• Contribute hands-on to the design, development, and maintenance of robust backend services
• Drive refinement, estimation, planning, and technical decision-making
• Design loosely coupled, event-driven systems that can evolve independently
• Support the gradual migration of legacy functionality to a modern cloud-native architecture
• Promote effective collaboration across teams and locations
• Document architecture and key technical decisions using the C4 model

Requirements:

• Minimum 8 years of professional experience
• Previous experience leading or technically guiding an engineering team
• Strong hands-on development experience with C# 12 or newer
• Solid knowledge of .NET Core services, libraries, and Minimal APIs
• Solid experience with AWS including Lambda, API Gateway, EventBridge, SQS/SNS, DynamoDB, IAM, and CloudWatch.
• Infrastructure as Code experience using AWS CDK or Terraform
• Strong understanding of application architecture and engineering principles, including SOLID, Clean Architecture, and Domain-Driven Design
• Experience designing loosely coupled systems and event-driven architectures
• Knowledge of OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect
• Experience working with relational or non-relational databases
• Confident use of GitHub and modern software delivery practices
• Strong communication, collaboration, and ownership skills

• Experience with React
• Experience with Tax, Tax calculation, Financial or Payment systems
• Experience with integration to external providers
