Cloud Engineer (Azure, M365 & Windows Server) - Portugal Full Remote
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Join an international technology environment where cloud, infrastructure and reliability engineering are at the heart of critical enterprise operations. You will become part of an Infrastructure team responsible for maintaining and evolving hybrid environments combining Microsoft Azure, Windows Server, Microsoft 365 and on-premises platforms.
This is an opportunity to work in a technically diverse environment where reliability, security, automation and operational excellence are key priorities. You will collaborate with infrastructure and business stakeholders while supporting both business-as-usual operations and new technology projects.
PROJECT & CONTEXT
You will work across a hybrid infrastructure landscape, supporting Windows Server environments running across VMware and Azure, as well as Microsoft cloud services and enterprise identity platforms.
Your responsibilities will include Azure IaaS administration covering virtual machines, networking, storage, backup and monitoring, together with Entra ID and hybrid Active Directory management. You will also support Microsoft 365 and Exchange, DNS, Dynamics infrastructure and other general platform services.
The role has a strong operational and reliability focus. You will participate in incident and change management processes, perform root-cause analysis, contribute to CAB-approved changes and continuously improve infrastructure through automation. PowerShell, Terraform and Azure DevOps pipelines can be used to automate repetitive tasks and infrastructure provisioning.
You may also provide support to a smaller GCP footprint where required. Data engineering activities are handled by a separate team and are outside the scope of this position.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Required)
- Hands-on experience administering Windows Server environments, including configuration, patching, troubleshooting and health monitoring.
- Practical experience with Microsoft Azure IaaS, including virtual machines, networking, storage, backup and monitoring.
- Experience with Microsoft Entra ID and hybrid Active Directory environments, including identity lifecycle, synchronisation and access management.
- Administration and support experience with Microsoft 365, including Exchange.
- Good knowledge of DNS and general enterprise infrastructure services.
- Experience working with ITSM processes, including incidents, service requests, changes and CAB governance.
- Experience using Azure DevOps (ADO) boards or similar tools for managing technical work.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Clear communication skills when working with both technical and business stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently across both on-premises and cloud environments.
- Professional working proficiency in English.
- Availability to work UK hours from Portugal, according to an agreed schedule.
NICE TO HAVE (Preferred)
- Previous experience with VMware environments.
- Experience with Terraform and infrastructure as code.
- Experience with Azure DevOps pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Experience automating infrastructure operations using PowerShell.
- Previous exposure to Dynamics infrastructure support.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Relevant Microsoft certifications such as AZ-104, MS-102 or AZ-400.
- Experience applying reliability engineering, automation-first and least-privilege principles in enterprise environments.
Compensation: €2,300 – €3,100/month net, depending on experience and seniority level.
