Every role at Ampol plays a part in something bigger - powering progress for our customers, communities, and people. Your career here is yours to shape. We back our people with real opportunities, the tools to grow, and a culture that rewards ownership and initiative. Whether you’re deepening your expertise or taking on something new, we’ll support you to power a career that works for you. We’re building a workplace where everyone feels welcome, respected, and valued - because when people are free to be themselves, powerful things happen About Trading & Shipping Our purpose at Ampol is to power better journeys today and tomorrow. Our Trading and Shipping team is key to achieving this, not only supplying our customers’ needs today, but evolving as the energy transition takes place to supply our customers well into the future. We take pride in our people and value innovation, sustainability, and customer satisfaction. If you’re a professional committed to excellence, Ampol is looking for you. About the Role We are recruiting for our Contracts Team at either the Contracts Specialist or Lead Contracts Specialist level, with responsibilities and experience calibrated to the level of appointment. Both roles report to the Contracts Team Lead (Functional) and the Contracts Team Manager (People Leadership). The level of appointment, and the corresponding scope and leadership expectations, will reflect the successful candidate's experience. Supporting the Contracts Team Lead, you will take primary responsibility for preparing, reviewing and negotiating contracts for the sale and purchase of petroleum products and crude oil, as well as managing all associated contract paperwork and working with relevant stakeholders to ensure contractual performance complies with the terms and conditions of each individual trade. You will also assist the Contracts Team Lead in managing risk by continually reviewing Ampol's systems, processes and procedures and implementing agreed changes. As a member of the team, you will actively influence best-practice ways of working across the business and contribute to providing training to team members and internal stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Prepare, review and negotiate, within agreed parameters, contract documentation (including supplementary documents) for the sale and purchase of crude and petroleum products. Identify, from a contractual perspective, and escalate any legal, commercial, and operational concerns and opportunities to appropriate internal subject matter experts, and work with relevant stakeholders on identifying and adopting an appropriate resolution to minimise Ampol's legal and commercial risk. Provide support on reports, checks and reviews relating to Ampol trading operations. Continually review and improve Ampol processes and procedures in relation to establishing contracting positions and ensuring compliance with, and adherence to, Ampol’s policies – including in relation to fraud, bribery and corruption, counterparty due diligence, delegation of authority, dispute management and document retention. Develop a strong relationship with the trading team by making a positive connection, understanding the commercial drivers, understanding the commercial and legal risks, and knowing when escalation is required and when a view can be taken. Independently influence and contribute to best-practice ways of working — including value-add tools, resources and processes — both within the Contracts Team and with business stakeholders. Provide coaching and mentoring to other Contracts Team members to support their development and growth, and to support quality assurance. Play a role with the Ampol Trading and Legal teams to identify, implement and monitor continuous-improvement opportunities across Ampol Trading & Shipping and the Contracts Team. Participate as a member of the Singapore trading and legal teams by sharing information and learnings, sharing workload as required by the General Counsel, Trading & Shipping, and actively participating in team meetings. Provide litigation and dispute support to the Ampol Singapore Legal team as required. Undertake such other duties as may reasonably be required by the company from time to time. Qualifications & Experience A degree or diploma in a related discipline (for example, Law, Maritime Studies or Supply Chain). Approximately 3–10 years' experience working in the contracts function of a crude oil and/or petroleum products trading business. Experience working in an unstructured and fast-moving environment handling complex and ad-hoc sale and purchase oil trading contracts. Strong understanding of contractual terms and conditions; high competency in contract analysis and negotiation, and in relevant computer systems; with sound knowledge of Incoterms, industry General Terms and Conditions and the operations of crude oil and petroleum products trading and shipping. At Ampol, we’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued and respected. We embrace and celebrate diversity in all its forms, recognizing that it makes our organization stronger. We encourage applications from people of all ages, backgrounds, identities, and experiences. We invite you to bring your whole self to Ampol.
