Lead Data Modeler

12-month contract | 2027 start | Sydney or Melbourne | Hybrid | Australian citizens only

We’re looking for a Senior Data Modeller who can take business requirements, cut through the noise, and turn them into clean, usable data models that delivery teams can actually build from.

This is not a role for someone who just produces diagrams and disappears. You’ll work closely with business stakeholders, architects, engineers and delivery teams to shape data structures that are scalable, governed and fit for purpose across a complex enterprise environment.

What you’ll be doing

• Develop conceptual, logical and physical data models across operational systems, integration platforms, data warehouses/lakes, analytics and reporting
• Translate business requirements and transformation rules into clear data structures and supporting documentation
• Apply data modelling standards, naming conventions, governance requirements and reusable patterns
• Work across relational, dimensional, Data Vault and NoSQL modelling approaches, depending on the problem being solved
• Review models produced by internal teams and external suppliers, keeping quality and consistency high
• Help improve the broader enterprise data capability, not just deliver the next project artefact
• Explain complex data concepts in a way that makes sense to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

What you’ll bring

• Strong enterprise data modelling experience in complex environments
• Excellent hands-on experience with Erwin Data Modeller
• Practical experience with logical and physical modelling, dimensional modelling and Data Vault
• Exposure to cloud data platforms and modern engineering environments, ideally Azure/AWS, Databricks, Spark and CI/CD
• Strong stakeholder skills and enough commercial awareness to understand the difference between “perfect” and “fit for purpose”

• 12-month contract, with potential extension
• Hybrid working, Sydney or Melbourne preferred
• Australian citizenship required
• Must be able and willing to obtain Baseline security clearance
