This is a team leader role who will manage the projects and people, while being responsible for his/her own deliverables for Marmon Fastner Group (https://www.marmonfasteners.com/ ) The role is 70% individual contributor and 30% team leader. As a Lead Engineer, you will be primarily responsible for engineering activities such as detailed design, analytical calculations, tolerance stack-ups, creating manufacturing drawings, supporting product Rollout activities, and reviewing complex designs/drawings for completeness, accuracy, and conformance to established Engineering Standards and practices pertaining to Marmon Fastner Group. In addition, you need to understand design intent, suggest fastener manufacturing and knowledge about ASME, ANSI and ASTM standards. You will drive collaboration with cross-functional teams, leverage technical strategy and best practices, and lead the successful execution of projects. As a lead engineer, you will be involved in people development, managing on- time project delivery and responsible for quality of deliverables of all the projects within team.

  • Responsible for leading new product development by applying technical expertise throughout the product lifecycle. Utilize methodologies such as Concept Selection, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), and Design Validation Planning to ensure robust and efficient product development
  • Review designs, 3D models, and drawings that represent the product in terms of its fit, form, and function.
  • Prepare detailed fabrication drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation for products.
  • Identify areas for improvement, problem-solving, and propose and implement design modifications of existing product lines.
  • Work closely with manufacturing and fabrication teams to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and aligned with production requirements.
  • Contribute to innovation initiatives and patent-related activities by identifying novel design concepts, supporting technical evaluations, and collaborating on intellectual property development.
  • Lead collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, project managers, and stakeholders, to ensure project goals are met.

Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in product design and development of fastening solutions, with strong understanding of fastener applications, bolted joint design, material selection, thread standards, and integration of fasteners within automotive, commercial vehicle, construction equipment, industrial, oil & gas, defence, marine, or heavy engineering products. (Preferred industry: Experience includes Fasteners, Automotive Components, Industrial Hardware, Forging, and Precision Engineering)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to convey technical information clearly
  • A deep understanding of standard sections, Aluminum extrusion, welding and machining processes used for heavy structures.
  • Strong technical knowledge of fastener design, metal forming, and casting as well as general engineering and physics concepts
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks software, PDM tools and release process
  • Strong understanding of bolts, screws, nuts, rivets and fastening systems.
  • Strong in the application of DFM and DFA techniques to designs
  • Well-versed in Cold forging, thread rolling, heat treatment, and surface coating, ASME and ANSI drawing standards
  • Expertise in Fit analysis, Tolerance stack-up analysis and coating process
  • Ability to understand design intent, review drawings/GD&T, and make suggestions
  • Knowledge of prototyping and testing, such as product performance tests, reliability tests, etc.
  • Exposure to fabrication, production floor environment, and supplier coordination
  • Excellent understanding of materials, processes, and finishing operations
  • Knowledge of NPD process, design calculations, DFMEA, and Concept Selection Matrix
  • Developing standard work instructions and implementing the best practice process documents & templates for complex drawings
  • Evaluate drawings for possible manufacturing, assembly problems, ease of serviceability and suggest improvements
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work
  • Exposure to Project Management Skills - Ability to plan, co-ordinate and execute tasks for self and team within agreed time and with quality
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Exposure/experience in working in a global engineering team environment (Preferably with US teams)
