About the role
The Lead Development Specialist is the first point of contact for new and unowned Veseris accounts. The role works inbound leads (including Veseris.com), newly opened accounts, and existing accounts with no assigned salesperson. Over the course of up to three orders, the specialist learns each customer's business, estimates their true spending potential, and grows every order along the way using quantity-based savings. Once the account's potential is clear, the specialist assigns it to the salesperson best suited to its size and needs, with a complete profile and a proven buying pattern.
How the three-order program works
Order 1 – Connect and discover. Respond within 24 hours, introduce Veseris, and help the customer place a first order. Use the conversation to build the customer profile and form an initial estimate of potential spend.
Order 2 – Expand the order. Introduce quantity-based incentives (volume breaks, case and bulk pricing, bundles, and manufacturer programs) that unlock savings when the customer buys more or consolidates products they currently buy elsewhere.
Order 3 – Confirm potential and hand off. Build on the second order to increase quantity and product range, confirm the potential estimate against actual buying, and prepare the account for assignment.
Flexibility. Accounts that show clear potential earlier may be assigned before the third order; accounts that show little potential after three orders are recommended for a lower-touch channel or deactivation.
What you'll do
Respond to every new and inbound lead within 24 hours, including Veseris.com leads, and help them place a first order.
Work a roster of unowned accounts (no assigned salesperson), including new accounts that have gone quiet after one or two purchases or never ordered, and re-engage them.
Qualify each account by building a profile: services offered (general pest, termite, mosquito, wildlife/exclusion, lawn and ornamental, etc.), number of technicians and trucks, service area, products used most, current suppliers, and buying frequency.
Estimate each account's annual spend potential and Veseris share-of-wallet opportunity, and update the estimate as each order comes in.
Grow order size from the first order to the third by recommending larger quantities, complementary products, and consolidation of purchases made with other suppliers.
Present quantity-based incentives, current promotions, and manufacturer programs that fit the customer's business, working within approved pricing guidelines.
Prepare quotes and pricing requests when needed and follow up until the order is placed.
Work in our D365 environment to set up accounts, place orders, and track order status.
Assign each qualified account to the right salesperson (inside sales or outside sales) based on its size, potential, geography, and service needs, following NBDT assignment thresholds.
Deliver a clear handoff summary for each account: profile, order history, potential estimate, incentives offered, and next-step opportunities.
Record every contact, outcome, and customer detail in the CRM so the history is complete at handoff.
Track and report on lead response time, order-over-order growth, conversion to second and third orders, and accounts assigned.
Work with the NBDT team and sales leadership to recommend accounts for reassignment or deactivation.
What we're looking for
1–2 years of experience in sales, customer service, or account management; phone and email sales experience preferred but not required.
Comfort making a high volume of outbound calls and following up consistently.
Ability to ask the right questions to size up a business and estimate what it could buy.
Confidence recommending larger orders and explaining how quantity-based savings benefit the customer.
Strong organization: you can manage a large list of accounts without letting any go stale.
Curiosity and good listening; you ask questions that uncover what a customer actually needs.
Comfort with numbers, basic pricing, and margin concepts.
Experience with a CRM and basic Excel; D365 experience is a plus.
Pest control, lawn care, or distribution experience is a plus but not required. Product training is provided.
How success is measured
Response to all leads within 24 hours.
Share of accounts that place a second and third order.
Growth in order value from the first order to the third.
Accuracy of potential estimates compared with the account's actual spend after assignment.
Number of accounts assigned to sales, and time from first contact to assignment.
Completeness of customer profiles and handoff summaries.
