We are seeking a Lead Engineer, Store Technology to design, build, and support solutions that integrate cloud and on-premises infrastructure across the store technology ecosystem. This role creates and manages automated deployment methods for platforms, applications, and devices while ensuring store technology environments remain secure, reliable, scalable, and aligned with enterprise standards.
The Lead Engineer partners closely with Product, Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, and Operations teams to deliver modern hybrid infrastructure capabilities, improve deployment consistency, strengthen observability, and support enterprise initiatives across Windows, Linux, Azure, Azure Local, Hyper-V, endpoint management, identity, and automation platforms.
Responsibilities
Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure Management
- Design, deploy, maintain, and optimize Microsoft Azure cloud and hybrid infrastructure services supporting store technology capabilities.
- Support hybrid environments spanning Azure, Azure Local, Hyper-V, Windows Server, Linux, networking fundamentals, and Active Directory.
- Ensure infrastructure solutions meet enterprise requirements for performance, resiliency, security, scalability, and operational supportability.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Security, and Operations teams to deliver platform enhancements, deployments, and infrastructure improvements.
- Ensure solutions meet performance, scalability, and reliability requirements
- Participate in system monitoring, support, and incident resolution
Endpoint, Identity & Platform Administration
- Oversee enterprise endpoints and workplace technology strategies using Microsoft Intune, Endpoint Manager, and related device management capabilities.
- Administer hardware platforms, operating systems, hosting platforms, and supporting services across Windows and Linux environments.
Automation Engineering
- Develop, maintain, and improve automation and infrastructure-as-code solutions using PowerShell, Bicep, ARM templates, Ansible, REST APIs, Git, and CI/CD practices.
- Create repeatable deployment methods for platforms, applications, and devices to improve speed, consistency, reliability, and operational control.
- Use source control, code review, documentation, and release management practices to support high-quality infrastructure automation.
- Leverage Terraform experience where applicable to support infrastructure standardization and future-state automation strategies.
- Support CI/CD pipelines and automation efforts
Infrastructure Security & Operations
- Design and implement security controls, hardening standards, and operational practices across cloud and on-premises environments.
- Perform vulnerability assessment support, remediation planning, troubleshooting, and documentation to strengthen infrastructure posture.
- Support observability, monitoring, incident response, and root-cause analysis for store technology environments and related infrastructure services.
- Communicate technical solutions clearly to business and technical stakeholders.
Program Support, Collaboration & Continuous Development
- Execute assigned work aligned to program and portfolio plans, milestones, dependencies, and defined objectives.
- Communicate technical recommendations, risks, progress, and operational impacts clearly to business and technology stakeholders.
- Develop personal capabilities and help build junior team member capabilities through assessment, development planning, training, coaching, professional accreditation, and ongoing education in relevant technologies, regulations, and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5–8 years of experience in infrastructure engineering, cloud/hybrid operations, endpoint management, systems administration, or related technology roles.
- Hands-on experience with Windows Server, Linux, Azure, Azure Local, Hyper-V, virtualization, networking fundamentals, and Active Directory.
- Proven experience with automation and infrastructure tools, including PowerShell, REST APIs, Git, CI/CD, Ansible, ARM templates, Bicep, and infrastructure automation practices.
- Experience managing enterprise endpoints and identity-related capabilities using Microsoft Intune, Endpoint Manager, and related Microsoft management platforms.
- Experience supporting observability, monitoring, troubleshooting, incident response, operational documentation, and infrastructure lifecycle management.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure security, vulnerability remediation, system hardening, and secure deployment practices.
- Terraform experience is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.

Benefits
The annual base salary range is $130,000 - $150,000. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. This role is also eligible to receive short term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Salary will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Salary is one component of the Foot Locker, Inc. total compensation package, which includes the below.
