About the role
We’re VOID Interactive, the kick-ass team behind the best-selling FPS game Ready or Not, which has sold over 15 million copies across all platforms. We’re a fully remote, 90+ person studio made up of seriously talented individuals from all over the world who love games and creating exceptional experiences for our players.
As our Lead Engineer, you will work closely with teams of artists, designers, producers and fellow engineers to build robust and scalable gameplay features and tools in Unreal Engine 5. You’ll guide the team through building major systems for our projects. You’ll help define the technical roadmap and strategy for the project, in line with the product vision, costs and the studio’s long-term technology goals. You should be equally comfortable collaborating across disciplines and working independently in a remote-first environment.
What you’ll do
- Manage and collaborate with a strong team of engineers, providing technical guidance and constructive feedback across game development disciplines.
- Develop flexible, scalable, network-friendly gameplay systems.
- Identify and reduce technical risk in execution, schedule and other areas of focus.
- Set and promote standards, design principles, software architecture, processes and work patterns across the team.
- Work closely with production and leadership teams to estimate, plan and deliver milestones on time.
- Communicate technical solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
What we’re looking for
- 8+ years of professional game development experience.
- 4+ years managing engineering teams.
- Strong C++ and math skills.
- Understanding of multiplayer games, replication, and client-server or other authority architectures.
- Experience shipping at least one AAA console title.
- Recent professional experience working with Unreal Engine.
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, performance considerations and code quality practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Bonus points if you have:
- Experience extending or modifying Unreal Engine 5.
- Shipped multi-platform titles.
- Familiarity with all stages of game development, from concept to post-launch ops.
Please Note: For Irish residents or citizens, this role is offered as a full-time employee position. For applicants based outside of Ireland, the role will be offered on a contractor basis.
We are a remote-first company and are committed to hiring the best candidate for the role, regardless of where you are located. If you’re outside our company’s home base, that’s okay with us. Salary is determined by the location of the applicant, market rates and relevant experience.
