THE POSITION As Global Mobility Operations Lead at Van Oord, you play a crucial role in shaping the future of global mobility within the organization. You will navigate the complex landscape of international tax, social security, and immigration legislation and ensure compliance with national and international payroll obligations.
As Global Mobility Operations Lead, you will collaborate with several different stakeholders throughout the company. You work closely with HR, Finance, Tax, and Payroll but also directly with our operational business to ensure alignment of our policies with the business needs. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential to be successful in this role. You are considered the expert on all Global Mobility matters and you need to bring the Global Mobility services to the operations as well. You will report to the Global Mobility Manager.
YOUR IMPACT You will be responsible for and manage all aspects of our assignment lifecycles. Within our line of business, we work with several different work/leave schedules, both on sea and land. Together with your team, you will ensure compliance with international visa and work permits, social security, wage- and income tax, and other relevant regulations in all jurisdictions we are active in. Though we have all sorts of policies in place, there is ample room for improvement of both policies and processes. Besides acting as a sparring partner in your team, you will amongst others
Co-design and automate core workflows across our people system (Workday), eliminating manual work and building infrastructure that scales.
Standardize international hiring operations i.e. secondment letters, visas, background check processes and approval workflows
Manage 2 teams of approximately 7 dedicated people
Develop and ensure implementation of global policies, procedures and practices, contribute to the development of business and discipline strategy, in line with corporate guidelines, (business) plans, and strategy, to ensure the realization of (strategic) objectives of the own discipline.
Project manage new country entries and entity launches.
Build and own a scalable expansion playbook that captures statutory requirements, benefits norms, and operational obligations for every market we enter with a new project.
Monitor regulatory changes proactively across our international markets and assess their impact on our programs before they become problems.
Partner with our C&B team to maintain a consistent global benefits and leave infrastructure including parental leaves, pensions/retirement, and statutory entitlements.
YOUR WORKPLACE You are part of Van Oord’s HR department, and your primary focus is on using your expertise to advise colleagues and management on relevant topics related to global mobility. Your position will be in the head office located in Rotterdam. We adopted a hybrid working model in which you can work from home for two days per week (based on full-time employment).
About You
A master degree in Tax Law (or other relevant master degree);
At least 8 years’ experience in an international environment, preferably within the Big-4 or (maritime) in-house roles;
Knowledge on international visa and work permit requirements;
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, combined with the ability to think strategically and solve problems creatively;
You like to work in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment and collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders;
Fluent in the English language
