The Investment Reporting Technology team partners closely with Finance, Accounting, Investment Operations, and other Technology teams to deliver enterprise applications that support investment accounting, regulatory reporting, management reporting, data governance, and financial controls. Our solutions integrate investment data from multiple platforms and provide automated, scalable, and compliant applications and reporting capabilities for critical business functions.

The Lead Software Engineer will serve as a hands-on Murex Developer and integration specialist responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting solutions across the Murex ecosystem and related internal and third-party peripheral applications. The ideal candidate has strong Murex development experience, understands derivatives trade lifecycle processes, and can integrate Murex with downstream and upstream applications built using multiple technology stacks, including SQL Server, Oracle, SSIS, SSRS, .NET/C#, Java, Python, APIs, batch scheduling, test automation, and cloud or modern data platforms. Provides lead support for design and development to one or more application development teams and leads a team of local or outsourced software engineers to build and support business application solutions.

This role requires a blend of Murex platform expertise, data engineering, integration design, reporting knowledge, production support discipline, and leadership skills. Responsibilities include Murex workflow and interface development, Datamart/reporting support, data pipelines, process automation, regulatory and accounting reporting support, production troubleshooting, and modernization of investment reporting and derivatives systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, enhance, and support Murex-based solutions across Front Office, Risk, Back Office, Accounting, and Datamart/reporting functions.
  • Develop and maintain integrations between Murex and internal peripheral applications, including downstream reporting platforms, accounting systems, data warehouses, operational tools, and other company-developed applications built across varied technology stacks.
  • Translate business and functional requirements into scalable technical solutions using Murex components, MxML, APIs, SQL, ETL pipelines, reporting frameworks, and integration services.
  • Build and support Murex Datamart reporting solutions, including schemas, feeders, batches, extraction processes, reconciliation routines, and reporting data layers.
  • Develop and optimize data pipelines and ETL processes using SQL Server, SSIS, AWS Glue, Oracle, or equivalent technologies to move and transform trade, position, valuation, and accounting data.
  • Design, develop, and support operational, regulatory, valuation, accounting, and management reports using SSRS, SQL, BI tools, Excel VBA/macros, and other enterprise reporting platforms.
  • Support trade lifecycle data flows, including deal capture, static data, valuation, accounting, reconciliation, reporting, EOD/EOM processing, and downstream data distribution.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and resolve complex production issues involving Murex workflows, Datamart loads, market data interfaces, reporting discrepancies, batch failures, and integration breaks.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, Investment Operations, Risk, business product owners, infrastructure teams, vendors, and offshore/contract development teams in an agile or hybrid delivery model.
  • Lead design sessions and architecture discussions for end-to-end Murex and derivatives platform solutions, considering business needs, cost, operational risk, maintainability, scalability, and system impacts.
  • Support SIT, UAT, regression testing, production releases, Murex upgrades, platform migrations, and modernization initiatives.
  • Contribute to automation and process optimization initiatives to improve STP, reduce manual work, strengthen controls, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Mentor developers and analysts on Murex development practices, integration design, coding standards, troubleshooting, documentation, and release readiness.
  • Leverage modern AI-assisted development tools, including Kiro, to accelerate delivery, improve code quality, automate repetitive development tasks, and enhance engineering productivity across the software development lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, math, engineering, finance, or another technical field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Five or more years of software engineering experience using Java, .NET/C#, SQL, or equivalent enterprise development technologies.
  • Hands-on Murex development or functional development experience, preferably supporting derivatives, Front Office, Risk, Back Office, Accounting, Datamart, or reporting capabilities.
  • Experience integrating Murex or similar financial platforms with internal and external applications through APIs, messaging, ETL pipelines, files, database interfaces, services, or batch orchestration.
  • Strong experience with SQL Server and/or Oracle, including query development, stored procedures, data modeling, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and data reconciliation.
  • Experience with ETL and data integration tools such as SSIS, AWS Glue, Control-M scheduled jobs, or equivalent enterprise integration technologies.
  • Experience developing and supporting reporting solutions using SSRS, BI tools, Datamart extracts, Excel VBA/macros, or equivalent reporting platforms.
  • Familiarity with coding platforms and frameworks such as OOD/OOP, Spring Framework, J2EE, service-oriented architecture, dependency injection, and core architecture principles.
  • Experience with integration and service frameworks such as API gateways, Swagger/OpenAPI, Kafka, messaging tools, microservices, REST APIs, or equivalent technologies.
  • Experience with build, deployment, and CI/CD tools such as Visual Studio, Git/Bitbucket, Maven, Jenkins, Nexus, SQL Management Studio, NUnit, Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes, or similar tools.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server, Linux/Unix environments, scripting, batch scheduling, monitoring, and operational support processes.
  • Understanding of derivatives products and trade lifecycle concepts, including FX, swaps, rates, fixed income, options, valuation, accounting, P&L, and regulatory or management reporting.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and technical communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality solutions within tight deadlines while maintaining strong customer focus.
