Lead Product Designer

Is this job info correct?

Location: This is a hybrid role. Our hubs are Portland, New York City, Boise, and Bozeman. Reports to: CPO Compensation: $190,000–$210,000 base salary, plus equity Who you’d be joining AI has made it much faster for go-to-market teams to create content, campaigns, and sales materials. But speed only helps if the work reflects what buyers actually think. GetWhys helps teams check their work against insights from real B2B buyers. Those insights come from our proprietary buyer intelligence database, built from research interviews, and every one can be traced back to its original source. We’re VC-backed and growing quickly—our ARR grew 10x in 2025. Our customers include Docusign, Intel, Commvault, Verizon, and Twilio. We’re a team of nearly 20 and are hiring across the company. We’re remote-first, with groups of teammates in Portland, New York City, Boise, and Bozeman. Our strong preference is to have someone in one of those hubs. We like working together, we take the work seriously, and we also expect people to have lives outside of it. We have artists, chefs, cyclists, dancers, and ultramarathoners on our team, and we’d love for you to bring yourself to it. The role We’re hiring our lead product designer. You’ll own design across the product, from early ideas through the details that make it into customers’ hands. You’ll also help us establish the design practices, systems, and standards we don’t yet have. The product itself presents an unusual design challenge. Some customers work directly in GetWhys to build and manage their company’s buyer intelligence. Many users instead encounter that intelligence inside tools they already use, such as Claude and Slack. You’ll help us make those experiences feel like parts of one coherent product. We’re a highly autonomous team. We move quickly, make judgment calls with incomplete information, and don’t have a mature design process yet. We’re looking for someone who likes that stage: a hands-on designer who can do excellent work while introducing just enough structure to help the whole team get better. What you’ll do Lead product design from early exploration through final implementation Improve the usability and visual quality of our existing product Design experiences across the GetWhys platform and the tools where our intelligence appears Build a practical design system that helps us move faster and stay consistent Work closely with product and engineering to decide what we build, not just how it looks Give clear feedback, explain your reasoning, and raise the quality bar across the company Be a strong partner for product in proactively answering questions for engineering Shape our approach to UX and UI Help lay the foundation for a future design team while remaining deeply hands-on Who you are You are passionate about something outside of work. We believe everyone works best when they have multiple interests You have ~5 or more years of product design experience You have strong portfolio showing thoughtful end-to-end product work and excellent visual craft You have experience designing complex software, workflows, or systems—not just isolated screens You’re okay being wrong. An imperfect decision early or on time is better than the right decision too late You want to work with an extremely high performing team. You have experience with AI tools, both within and without the design process You can turn ambiguous problems into clear, useful experiences You demonstrate strong judgment and the confidence to advocate for your point of view You enjoy a collaborative working style: you can push back, explain why, and change your mind when the evidence calls for it You have experience building or contributing to design systems You’re comfortable working independently in a fast-moving environment Experience as an early designer at a startup is a plus. This is probably a particularly good fit if you enjoy doing the work yourself and want meaningful influence over both the product and how a company approaches design. If you’re primarily looking to manage a team, it’s probably not the right role. Benefits Medical, dental, and vision insurance (90% of your deductible, 75% of your dependents') 401(k) with a 3% company match Unlimited PTO, with an expected minimum of 10 business days each year 18 company holidays 12 weeks of paid parental leave A permanently remote-friendly workplace with no required number of office days (though if you live in a hub, we hope you’ll join us in person sometimes!) Regular team and company-wide in-person gatherings Meaningful equity and the opportunity to define design at a growing company
