Lead Product Designer
London | PreSeed | Category Creation
Una is the system for improving women's healthspan — the years a woman stays in good health, not just alive.
Women live longer but spend 25% more of their lives in poor health compared to men. 9 years in poor health. They are sold solutions in fragments, a tracker here, a supplement there, a specialist once a year. Nobody owns the whole arc. We are going to do it. And we need the world's best people to build this future with us.
Una turns that arc into one expert-backed action a day — read against her biology, fitted to her real life, delivered without guilt or overwhelm. Cutting-edge neuroscience, behavioural science and proprietary AI models do the work underneath; she sees one action to do today.
We are not a wellbeing app, a wearable or a tracker. We are building the category for improving the healthspan of women.

You will be Una's Lead Product Designer, shaping how the product feels, operates and evolves, with a path to Head of Design as the team grows.
This is zero-to-one. You will work directly with the founders to define the product experience from the ground up — not to polish someone else's roadmap, and not to optimise something already mature.
You are designing for busy, ambitious women who do not tolerate fluff. The product has to feel sharp, considered and purposeful.
- Onboarding and the core experience — designing for real-world follow through not just in-app engagement.
- The design system: refining what exists, defining the foundations that don't
- Both UX and UI, from structure to craft
- The emotional tone of the product
- Translating behavioural science research into experiences women actually complete
- Clarity over feature volume: removing more than you add, holding your own opinions, saying no
You operate across the full product lifecycle, not just execution.
- Run customer research and discovery yourself; generate the insight, don't wait to be handed it
- Turn research into hypotheses and experiments
- Prototype fast off design system components
- Use AI tools to accelerate thinking, iteration and output quality
- Design towards measurable behavioural outcomes, not aesthetic preference
- Work to OKRs and product metrics in an agile cycle
- Spell out interaction and product requirements clearly enough for frontend to build from
- Own implementation quality — hands-on QA until what ships matches what you intended
Una is a behaviour-change product. Success is adherence, retention and trust. We care deeply about expertise and craft, and expertise and craft has to serve those outcomes.
- Product Design: End-to-end product design, user flows, wireframing, high-fidelity UI design, interaction design, and responsive layouts.
- Design Tools: Advanced proficiency in Figma, including Auto Layout, Components, Variants, Variables, and interactive prototyping.
- Design Systems: Experience creating, maintaining, and scaling design systems, reusable component libraries, design tokens, and UI guidelines.
- Information Architecture: Strong understanding of navigation structures, user flows, content hierarchy, and intuitive interface organization.
- Rapid Prototyping: Ability to quickly translate ideas into interactive prototypes, iterate on design concepts, and validate product solutions.
- Mobile-First Design: Expertise in designing native iOS and Android experiences, following Apple Human Interface Guidelines and Material Design principles.
- Developer Collaboration: Experience collaborating closely with engineering teams, preparing design specifications, managing developer handoffs, and ensuring technical feasibility.
- Design QA: Ability to review implemented designs, identify UI inconsistencies, and ensure design fidelity across platforms and devices.
- Accessibility: Understanding of WCAG standards, inclusive design principles, and accessible interface design.
- AI-Assisted Design: Familiarity with AI-powered design tools and workflows for rapid ideation, prototyping, and design iteration.
- Behavioural Design: Expertise in behavioural design is a plus
- Designing for Women: Prior experience designing for women is a plus
- You have built zero-to-one products, not only iterated on existing ones
- You think in systems, not screens
- You treat restraint as a design principle, not a constraint
- You know premium signals confidence through clarity, not decoration
- You are comfortable in ambiguity and set direction where none exists
- You are able to think deeply but execute quickly and deliver results at speed for your users
- You challenge founders constructively and argue from user outcomes and first principles
- You care about the health of women and the women we build for
Not a UI polish role. Not growth optimisation or experimentation only. Not a ticket-delivery function. Not brand or visual styling.
You are not here to make things look better. You are here to make the product fundamentally better — and to help define a category.
If you want defined specs, a predictable roadmap, incremental optimisation or an established brand to polish, this is the wrong environment. The role demands original thinking and comfort shaping direction rather than executing against it.
- Competitive salary plus meaningful early-stage equity
- Full ownership of product design, and the freedom to build the design function from the ground up, with a path to Head of Design
- Direct collaboration with the founders, product and engineering — real influence over product and company direction
- London, hybrid — three days a week in the office
- The chance to define how ambitious women everywhere extend their healthspan
Five touchpoints, about 3 weeks end to end, roughly seven hours of your time including the exercise. We tell you the full process on the first call and come back to you within 48 hours of every stage.
- Portfolio screen
- Screening call (30 min)
- Portfolio deep dive (45 min)
- Mini exercise (about 4 hours, 5–7 days to complete)
- Final round: exercise presentation (60 min) and a session with the founders (60 min)
Everyone who does the exercise gets proper feedback, including a no. Offers go out within 48 hours of the debrief.
Send the following to team@una-app.com:
- A portfolio with two projects that show depth of thinking, not just aesthetics
- One digital product that is not designed for women, and how you would change it.
- Your CV and LinkedIn
