As a Lead Software Engineer at Beyond, you will act as a bridge between strategic vision and hands-on technical execution. This is a pivotal role for those who combine deep technical expertise with a genuine passion for people development. You will drive strategic application development initiatives on Google Cloud Platform, lead complex multi-stakeholder client engagements and provide the technical thought leadership that shapes our engineering practice.
This role retains a hands-on element: you will contribute directly to architecture, design and code review whilst leading your team.


How You'll Shape Our Success

• Strategic Execution: Develop and drive key application development initiatives on GCP, ensuring alignment with client goals and Beyond's wider technical strategy.
• Technical Leadership: Act as a technical authority on software architecture, design and security best practices, with hands-on involvement in key technical decisions.
• Project Stewardship: Take ownership of complex, multi-stakeholder client projects, balancing technical requirements with delivery timelines and resource management.
• Team Empowerment: Nurture a high-performing team of around 8 developers by setting clear goals, delegating effectively and fostering an inclusive, collaborative environment.
• Mentorship: Own the growth of your team members, providing guidance, addressing skill gaps and creating development opportunities.
• Influencing Change: Champion innovation, challenge the status quo constructively and support your team through periods of transition.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Essential Skills & Experience

• Technical Mastery: Advanced proficiency in software architecture and design on Google Cloud Platform, with a strong grasp of security best practices.
• Strategic Vision: Experience in project management and estimation, with a proven ability to manage complex client-facing initiatives.
• Leadership & Development: Demonstrated success leading teams of similar size, including performance management, coaching and mentoring.
• Emotional Intelligence: The ability to communicate effectively, build inclusive environments and facilitate difficult conversations constructively.
• Client Engagement: Comfortable operating as a trusted technical voice in front of client stakeholders, not just internally.
• Professional Mindset: Results-oriented, accountable and proactive in identifying and driving improvements.
