Position Summary: The Lead Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist (CDIS) coordinates the prioritization and oversees the day-to-day workflow of the CDI staff and provides clinical documentation improvement expertise. This position is an experienced CDIS who works in partnership with the HIM Director and Physician Advisors to ensure high quality and production standards are met. This will be accomplished thru data evaluation and review of medical records and daily staff communication. CDIS is responsible for improving the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation. CDIS facilitates modifications to clinical documentation through concurrent interaction with physicians and other clinicians to ensure that documentation reflects complete and accurate level of service rendered to patients.
Education/Training: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required. Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years acute care nursing experience required. ICU experience preferred. Minimum 2 years CDIS in acute care hospital. Advanced clinical expertise and extensive knowledge of complex disease processes with broad clinical experience in an inpatient setting required. Ability to analyze, produce and present high level analysis and metrics. Epic and lodine experience preferred. Proficient in MS Office and MS Teams. Must be able to troubleshoot remote computer connectivity issues.
Licensure, Registration or Certification: Registered Nurse required. CDIS certification through ACDIS or AHIMA required.
