We are seeking a Lead/Principal Reliability Engineer in our Broomfield, CO location. This role offers the opportunity to work on a hybrid schedule. Employees are expected to work at their assigned location and may work remotely up to 2 days per week, with approval.
All applicants for placement in safety-sensitive positions will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug test.
Key Responsibilities:
Define and lead reliability strategies for new technologies with limited historical data, evolving architectures, and unproven materials or processes. Special cases include optical and photonic technologies, extreme-high vacuum components, and cryogenic cooling systems.
Develop reliability analyses at the system or product level, rolling up a combination of subassembly or component-level reliability test campaigns and study of published reliability results for mature products.
Work with component and discipline subject matter experts to develop physics of failure models for new technologies in areas such as those noted above.
Create accelerated stress test plans, novel characterization methods, reliability metrics, and prediction methods appropriate for first-of-kind technologies.
Collaborate with design teams to drive reliability-centric requirements and design decisions, including derating, margin analysis, redundancy strategies, and component selection.
Analyze early prototypes and test results to identify root causes, quantify reliability risks, and propose design or process improvements.
You Must Have:
Minimum bachelor’s degree
Minimum 8+ years of professional experience (6 years with master’s, 5 years with PhD) in reliability engineering roles. Experience must include the reliability of products or systems incorporating one or more of the following technology areas: photonics, lasers, advanced materials, optical sensors, and/or optical systems.
Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person defined as: U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or worker granted asylum or refugee status
We Value:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, physics, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
Experience with quantitative reliability analysis of complex products or systems incorporating optical and electronic technologies, resulting in analysis artifacts such as Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), failure rate, and probability of mission success.
Experience participating in failure mode and effects criticality analysis (FMECA) efforts for complex products or systems incorporating optical and electronic technologies.
Hands-on experience with reliability test equipment, environmental stress methods, highly-accelerated life and stress testing, and data analysis.
Experience with reliability studies of new technologies and/or first-generation product introduction.
Proficiency in physics of failure, statistical analysis, reliability prediction tools, and design-for-reliability methodologies.
