Reporting to the Manager Organisational Development, this role operates as a trusted advisor to clinical professional leads and senior stakeholders across St John of God Health Care.
You will partner closely with business leaders to understand strategic priorities, identify capability gaps and design innovative learning solutions that build workforce capability and support clinical excellence.
This is not a traditional education role. You will bring expertise in stakeholder partnering, performance consulting and instructional (learning) design, translating business and clinical needs into impactful learning strategies, programs and resources. Working across professional groups, you will influence a culture of continuous learning while ensuring learning investment delivers measurable outcomes for caregivers, patients and the organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Partner with business leaders and senior stakeholders to understand learning and capability needs and help develop targeted learning plans that support service and organisational goals.
- Lead the design, delivery and implementation of learning solutions, leveraging internal resources and collaborating with local L&D teams to ensure effective outcomes and adoption.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous learning, driving capability development, sharing best practice, and proactively addressing learning gaps and organisational risks.
- Measure, evaluate and optimise learning impact, using stakeholder feedback and performance outcomes to ensure delivery of clinical excellence and a market-leading patient experience
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to align learning initiatives, governance, and best-practice approaches, ensuring consistent and impactful learning outcomes across the organisation.
- Design and develop high-quality learning solutions, while mentoring and coaching colleagues to strengthen capability, foster collaboration, and support a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Your skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you will be a strong relationship builder with well-developed business partnering skills, able to work effectively with clinical leaders, subject matter experts and senior stakeholders across the organisation. You will work collaboratively to identify capability needs, align learning initiatives with strategic priorities, and translate complex business and clinical requirements into practical learning solutions that deliver measurable outcomes.
You will be an experienced instructional designer with a strong understanding of adult learning principles and contemporary learning methodologies. Drawing on your experience in healthcare learning and development, you will lead learning projects from needs analysis through to design, development, implementation and evaluation, creating engaging, evidence-based learning experiences across a range of delivery methods, including digital learning technologies and platforms.
With a strong combination of clinical credibility, learning expertise and project management capability, you will be comfortable managing competing priorities, using data and feedback to evaluate learning effectiveness, and partnering with multidisciplinary teams to drive continuous improvement. Current AHPRA registration and postgraduate qualifications in education, learning design, clinical education or a related field are essential.
Experience working in large, complex healthcare organisations, knowledge of the VET and/or higher education sectors, and familiarity with Workday Learning will be highly regarded.
Above all, people will be at the core of everything you do committing to and supporting our Mission and Values.
All applicants are requested to submit a covering letter (of no more than two (2) pages) demonstrating how you meet the above position requirements.
