Learning & Development Specialist

Netherlands | Global People & Culture

Build learning that makes a difference

At Vertage, we are changing the way organisations work. As technology, AI and workforce models evolve, so do the skills people need to succeed.

That makes learning and development more important than ever.

We are looking for a Learning & Development Specialist to bring our global L&D approach to life in the Netherlands. You will be the local L&D specialist, working closely with our global L&D colleagues and the wider People Team to create engaging learning experiences that help our people grow.

This is a role with both local ownership and global connection. You will have the freedom to make things work locally, while building on a global learning approach rather than creating a separate local agenda.

Your role

You will be responsible for the local delivery and implementation of Vertage's learning and development programmes in the Netherlands.

A key part of your role will be delivering a high-quality onboarding and induction experience for new colleagues. You will also deliver global learning programmes, facilitate workshops and support employees and managers in turning learning into everyday behaviour.

You will combine learning design, facilitation, programme coordination and stakeholder management. One day you might be delivering an induction session to new starters; the next, you could be working with global L&D colleagues to adapt a learning programme for the Dutch market.

As the primary L&D specialist in the Netherlands, you will work independently and build strong relationships across the organisation. At the same time, you will remain closely connected to the global L&D community and wider People Team.

What you'll do

Bring global learning to life

  • Deliver global L&D programmes across the Netherlands, ensuring a consistent and high-quality learning experience.

  • Facilitate engaging face-to-face and virtual workshops for employees and leaders.

  • Own and deliver the onboarding and induction experience for new starters in the Netherlands.

  • Adapt global learning content where genuinely needed for language, regional or legal requirements, while maintaining the core approach and quality.

  • Gather feedback from participants and stakeholders and use it to continuously improve the learning experience.

Design and improve learning

  • Translate learning needs into practical and engaging development experiences.

  • Support the design and continuous improvement of learning journeys across different roles, career stages and capabilities.

  • Create and adapt learning materials, facilitator guides and supporting resources.

  • Apply adult learning principles and modern learning methods to make learning practical and relevant.

  • Explore how digital and AI-enabled learning can support more personalised and scalable development.

Connect with the organisation

  • Build strong relationships with employees, managers and leaders across the Netherlands.

  • Partner with People Team colleagues to connect L&D with onboarding, talent development and wider employee initiatives.

  • Work closely with global L&D colleagues, sharing local insights and bringing global best practices into the Netherlands.

  • Act as the local point of contact for learning and development.

  • Coordinate external learning providers and facilitators when needed.

Help build for the future

As Vertage continues to grow, so will our learning needs. You will help build the foundations for a scalable L&D approach in the region.

This includes improving processes, creating reusable learning resources, identifying opportunities to strengthen the local learning experience and contributing ideas to the wider global L&D strategy.

The impact you'll have

Success in this role means that:

  • New starters in the Netherlands experience a consistent, engaging and high-quality onboarding journey.

  • Global L&D programmes are delivered effectively and consistently, with thoughtful local adaptation where required.

  • Employees and leaders know where to go for learning and development support, creating a visible and connected L&D presence in the Netherlands.

  • The processes, resources and relationships you build create a strong foundation for future growth of L&D in the region.

What you bring

You are a hands-on L&D professional who enjoys working with people, designing learning and making things happen. You are comfortable working independently, but you don't work in isolation. You know how to build relationships, collaborate across borders and turn global ideas into effective local experiences.

You bring:

  • 2–3 years of experience in Learning & Development, Talent Development, Adult Learning or a similar field.

  • Fluent Dutch and English, both spoken and written.

  • A professional qualification in L&D, Adult Learning or a related discipline, or you are actively working towards one.

  • Strong learning design and facilitation skills, with the ability to create engaging content and deliver sessions to a high standard.

  • Confidence as a face-to-face facilitator, particularly for onboarding and induction.

  • Experience working with different audiences, stakeholders and levels of seniority.

  • The ability to work independently as the primary local L&D specialist while staying connected to a wider global team.

  • A structured and proactive approach, with the ability to manage several programmes and priorities at the same time.

  • Curiosity about new learning approaches, technology and the future of work.

It would be a plus if you have

  • Experience working in a global or international organisation.

  • Experience delivering or implementing global L&D programmes.

  • Experience adapting global learning content to local or regional requirements.

  • Experience with learning platforms, digital learning or AI-enabled learning.

Global experience is not essential. What matters more is that you are curious, adaptable and willing to learn how to work effectively in a global L&D environment.

Why Vertage?

At Vertage, you will have the opportunity to help shape how a growing global organisation develops its people.

You will have local ownership with global reach: the autonomy to make an impact in the Netherlands, while learning from and contributing to colleagues across different markets.

You will join an organisation that is actively transforming how work gets done — and you will play a role in helping our people develop the capabilities they need for what comes next.

Ready to make learning matter? We'd like to hear from you.
