Join Qutwo - Europe's private Quantum AI Lab, on our quest to bridge the gap between the classical and the quantum world. We partner with the most advanced and forward-thinking customers, solving fundamental real-world problems, side by side.
Qutwo is scaling fast in headcount, customers and markets. We are financing growth, pursuing acquisitions and signing commercial agreements with large enterprises across Finland, the Nordics and internationally.
We are now seeking our first in-house lawyer to build a legal function that scales with the business. Each team owns the legal requirements in its own area, and legal makes sure every team knows what matters, gives them the tools and resources to act on it, and steps in where legal judgement or specialist support is needed. Legal is an enabler across many areas, not the specialist in all of them.
As an AI company, we expect our legal function to be AI-enabled from day one. Our main office is located in Helsinki, and that's the preferred location for this role.
If you are a humble learner, not afraid of the unknown, we encourage you to apply!
Role Description
Contract framework: templates, a contract playbook with clear thresholds for when Legal/senior approvers must be involved, the contract repository and signing process. Legal negotiates both non-standard and strategic agreements.
Corporate and financing: Board and shareholder documentation, share issues, (convertible) loan agreements, the stock option program and employee equity documentation, cap table management, group structure and related-party approvals.
Privacy and regulation: GDPR compliance and data processing agreements, EU AI Act readiness. Maps the legislation that applies to Qutwo, with a named business owner for each area, what matters in it and Legal's role.
Employment and IP: employment contract templates (owned by HR, supported by Legal) and cross-border employment, IP assignment and invention arrangements.
AI-enabled legal function: design and run Legal on AI from the start: select and deploy legal AI platforms such as Legora or Harvey, build reusable legal skills, prompts and playbooks (contract review, NDA triage, due diligence), and enable business teams to self-serve on standard legal matters.
M&A support: support in M&A transactions on the legal aspects of acquisitions, working with external counsel on due diligence and transaction documents, and handle post-closing legal integration.
External counsel: select and manage law firms and own the legal budget.
Legal operations: contract repository and signing process, signing authorities and powers of attorney, a legal risk register, and regular reporting to management and the Board.
Disputes and claims: manage them together with external counsel.
Must-haves
Master of Laws (OTM or equivalent) and 8+ years of experience from a leading law firm and/or in-house at a technology company.
Strong track record in commercial contracting for software, SaaS or technology licensing
Hands-on experience in corporate law and venture financing incl. Finnish Companies Act, share issues, option programs and convertible instruments.
Hands-on experience using AI in legal work (for example Legora, Harvey or general-purpose LLMs) and the drive to develop legal skills, prompts and automated workflows, not just use off-the-shelf tools.
Experience working in an international setting: cross-border deals, counterparties and colleagues across jurisdictions and cultures, and coordinating foreign counsel where needed.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Comfortable with ambiguity: able to make sound judgement calls with incomplete information, build structure where none exists, and adapt quickly as priorities shift.
Ambitious, pragmatic and business-minded; comfortable working independently and prioritising in a fast-moving scale-up.
Nice-to-haves
Exposure to M&A transactions, ideally on the buy side.
Background in AI, deep tech or quantum computing.
Experience deploying legal tech or building legal automation, e.g. contract lifecycle management, AI agents or no-code workflows.
Experience building a legal function from scratch in a scale-up.
