We have an immediate vacancy for a Legal Counsel with 1-3 years of in-house experience to join our international legal team. This is a remote role open to candidates based in the US. It's a broad, hands-on role for a lawyer who wants to grow their experience across commercial, technology, privacy, and employment matters. You'll work closely with teams across the business.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with our internal stakeholders (in particular our sales team) to draft, review, negotiate, and advise on bespoke and standard contracts for a wide range of commercial transactions, including master services agreements, statements of work, vendor agreements, and NDAs .
- Manage state entity filings, annual reports, and registered agent matters for our US entities, and support other corporate governance work.
- Work with our data privacy team on privacy and data protection issues (including US state privacy laws and GDPR) and data processing agreements.
- Provide day-to-day legal support to teams across VikingCloud, including sales, engineering, operations, product, IT, marketing, HR, finance, and relationship management.
- Help build and maintain contract templates, playbooks, and processes that allow the legal and sales teams close deals efficiently.
- Liaise with third parties as required, including customers, suppliers, insurers, and external advisers (legal and otherwise) in the US and internationally.
- Work collaboratively with the wider global legal team.
Qualifications
- JD from an accredited US law school and an active license in good standing to practice law in at least one US state. You must also be able to meet any in-house counsel registration requirements in your state of residence.
- 1-3 years of in-house experience, ideally at a technology, software, or SaaS company.
- Solid experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, including technology, software, and SaaS agreements.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, willing to take on a broad range of matters, and with experience supporting sales teams.
- Experience working with stakeholders across multiple functions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to weigh legal risk against business goals and give practical, commercially minded advice, with strong attention to detail.
Desirable
- Experience with intellectual property, privacy and data protection, information security terms, or employment law.
- International experience.
