Show job description
We build legal drafting technology for moments that matter - when the stakes are high, the documents are complex, and speed can't come at the cost of control.

Our platform helps legal teams move faster through contracts using automation, collaboration, and AI - without taking judgment away from the lawyers who own the risk. We believe technology should amplify expertise, not replace it.

Avvoka is trusted by leading law firms, banks, and global enterprises, and we've grown through product strength and word of mouth alone. With headcount and revenue increasing by over 70% year on year, we're scaling from a product-led success into a globally recognised legal-tech brand.

We're at an inflection point: evolving how the world's most sophisticated legal teams work - and building a company where thoughtful people can do the best work of their careers. Legal is what keeps that growth on solid ground, and this role sits right at the centre of it.
You'll own the agreements behind Avvoka's growth - the SaaS subscriptions, data protection terms, and security commitments that global law firms, banks, and enterprises expect before they put Avvoka at the centre of their drafting. Reporting directly to our General Counsel, you'll run customer negotiations day to day, be the first port of call for data protection, and help build the playbooks that let a fast-growing legal function scale. It's real ownership early, close to the commercial engine of the business - and no two days are the same.
Negotiate and close
  • Run customer contract negotiations day to day, working through detailed markups from global law firms, banks, and enterprises against our playbook and taking them through to signature.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate the agreements behind our subscriptions - SaaS and licence agreements, order forms, NDAs, DPAs, and partner, reseller, and supplier terms.
  • Support Sales through procurement, RFPs, and due diligence, confidently handling the security questionnaires and audit rights that law firm and financial services buyers ask for.

Advise the business
  • Be the first point of contact for day-to-day data protection queries, from DPAs and sub-processor terms to UK GDPR questions.
  • Advise on commercial and corporate matters, often against the clock, and field ad-hoc queries from every corner of the company - knowing when to bring in the General Counsel.
  • Draft and update internal guidelines, standard terms, policies, employment contracts, and commission plans.

Build and scale
  • Help design and maintain the legal processes and playbooks that let Avvoka scale, including our contracting positions on AI.
  • Qualification as a solicitor in England & Wales, with around 2 to 4 years' PQE in private practice or in-house. PQE is a guide, not a filter - if you're close and this resonates, please apply.
  • A solid grounding in SaaS, software licensing, and commercial contracts, with hands-on experience negotiating detailed markups with sophisticated counterparties.
  • Working knowledge of UK GDPR, particularly DPAs and sub-processor terms.
  • Sound judgement: you can separate legal from commercial issues and know when to escalate.
  • A proactive, ownership-driven mindset, a forensic eye for detail, and the organisation to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-moving scale-up.
  • Excellent written and verbal English, and the confidence to explain legal points to people outside legal.
  • A practical approach to technology and AI tools, and real curiosity about how the tools lawyers use are changing.
