Legal Counsel – Legal Business Partner
As Legal Business Partner, you provide strategic legal support to PLG and its affiliates — primarily across France and Europe, with international scope. This generalist role offers broad exposure to commercial, IT/data, compliance, and corporate matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Commercial & Partnership Contracting — Draft, review, and negotiate commercial, service, partnership, and distribution agreements (MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, T&Cs); lead client-facing negotiations.
- Legal Operations — Maintain and harmonize templates, clause libraries, and playbooks; contribute to CLM, risk matrices, process improvement, and affiliate integration.
- Technology & Data — Negotiate IT/SaaS agreements, software licenses, and DPAs; advise on GDPR, cybersecurity, cloud, and digital/AI initiatives (EU AI Act).
- Corporate & Compliance — Support governance for group entities; contribute to compliance programs (ethics, ESG/CSR) and group policy implementation.
- Business Partnering — Provide daily legal support to commercial, operations, HR, procurement, IT, and data teams; identify risks, propose pragmatic solutions, deliver internal training.
- Dispute Management — Manage litigation and pre-litigation matters in coordination with external counsel.
- Support additional projects across legal ops, IP, real estate, insurance, and contract optimization.
Profile
- Qualified lawyer (France or other EU jurisdiction) or equivalent international law background.
- Knowledge of French legal systems as well as UK/US legal systems
- 4–10 years' experience in commercial contracting (services, tech, consulting, or life sciences), ideally international.
- Fluent working in French and English; Italian or Spanish a plus.
- Strong drafting/negotiation skills for complex, high-stakes agreements, with the ability to manage a high volume of matters under tight deadlines.
- Solid understanding of corporate governance, cross-border operations, GDPR/IT/SaaS/cloud, and matrix or PE environments.
- Organized, autonomous, pragmatic; integrates smoothly into existing teams and reporting lines.
- Curious and proactive, comfortable in fast-moving, innovation-driven settings; solution-oriented and self-sufficient in resolving day-to-day issues.
Role Evolution
Reporting to the Regional Legal Director, this role will grow with PLG's global expansion. Depending on your expertise (IT/data, compliance, regulatory, corporate law), you may take ownership of specific domains and lead improvements in legal tools and processes.
