About Sharon AI
Sharon AI is an Australian neocloud, delivering trusted AI infrastructure organisations need to build, train and run AI at scale. We support customers across the full AI lifecycle, from training through to inference and agentic AI, drawing on a strong ecosystem of technology and co-location partners to deliver capability where it’s needed. As the first neocloud to join NVIDIA’s AI Compute Program, we’re growing quickly, scaling our AI Factory platform to meet rising demand for advanced compute.
The Role
As we continue to grow, we’re looking for an experienced Legal Counsel at approximately 4 to 6 years’ PQE, with top-tier or large commercial law firm training and secondee or in-house experience, ideally in sectors where technology meets physical infrastructure, such as tech and data, AI, energy or construction projects.
We are interested in hearing from lawyers who have been hands-on with technology, data centre, infrastructure and platform/SaaS contracting, ideally in a high-growth or product-led business. Any data privacy exposure, project finance and/or energy law background is highly regarded.
You’ll be a highly capable commercial lawyer, able to work closely with Sales, Business Development, Procurement, Finance and technical teams to support Sharon AI’s continued growth across AI infrastructure, energy partnerships and data centre operations. This is a hands-on role suited to a lawyer who is commercially minded and comfortable operating without a large legal team. You’ll be a confident drafter and negotiator who enjoys partnering closely with commercial and technical stakeholders in a fast-growing, technically complex environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Draft and review a broad range of commercial contracts to support the business and legal function, including technology agreements, supply and procurement contracts, customer contracts, MOUs and confidentiality agreements.
• Work with Senior Legal Counsel and Deputy General Counsels to provide timely, pragmatic legal advice to commercial, operations, finance and technical teams on day-to-day contractual and legal questions.
• Support contract lifecycle management, including renewals, variations and expiry tracking, working with the business to reduce reliance on ad hoc, individually negotiated terms.
• Contribute to the Legal team’s documentation, knowledge management and process improvement.
What We’re Looking For
• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) from a recognised Australian or equivalent overseas institution. Current admission as a solicitor in an Australian state or territory, with a valid practising certificate.
• 4 to 6 years’ PQE, with training at a top-tier or large commercial law firm.
• In-house experience; exposure to technology, data, privacy, infrastructure, data centre, telecommunications or a comparable sector is highly regarded, as would any technology project finance or energy law background.
• Full Australian working rights (citizenship, permanent residency, or an appropriate visa); this role is not expected to be sponsored in the first instance.
• Willingness to be based from Sharon AI’s Sydney office, with occasional travel as required.
• Current, unrestricted practising certificate, with no unresolved professional conduct matters.
• Commercial contract drafting across a range of contract types and counterparties.
• Risk assessment and escalation judgement, knowing what can be resolved independently and what needs to go further.
• Financially literate and able to read and negotiate commercial and pricing terms.
• Strong organisation and time management, able to prioritise a varied caseload in a fast-moving environment.
• Comfort with ambiguity, able to operate effectively where process and precedent are still being built.
• Collaboration and teamwork, both within Legal and across the wider business.
• Genuine interest in, or willingness to build, sector knowledge in technology, AI or data centre infrastructure.
• Accuracy and attention to detail, including under time pressure or competing deadlines.
Nice to have:
• US qualification
