Legal SME Consultant | Dubai, UAE | 12-Month Contract

We are looking for an experienced Legal Subject Matter Expert (SME) Consultant to support a major technology and digital transformation programme in Dubai.

This opportunity is suited to a legal professional with a strong understanding of UAE legal and regulatory frameworks, legislative processes, governance and policy development, who is interested in working at the intersection of law, technology and AI.

The successful candidate will work closely with legal stakeholders, government entities and technical delivery teams to translate complex legal requirements into practical business processes and technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse and interpret UAE legislation, regulations, legal frameworks and government policies.
• Support the drafting, review and assessment of laws, regulations, policies and legal opinions.
• Conduct legislative research, regulatory impact assessments and compliance reviews.
• Translate legal and regulatory requirements into business processes, workflows and functional requirements.
• Collaborate with government stakeholders, legal departments and regulatory authorities.
• Provide legal subject matter expertise to digital transformation and AI-driven initiatives.
• Advise on data governance, privacy, confidentiality and information-sharing requirements.
• Support the development and implementation of technology solutions within legal and regulatory environments.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in legal advisory, regulatory consulting, legislative affairs, governance or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of UAE and/or GCC legal and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience in legislative drafting, legal interpretation, regulatory compliance or policy development.
• Ability to communicate complex legal concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience working with government entities, regulatory authorities or large-scale organisations is highly desirable.
• Exposure to digital transformation, LegalTech or AI-driven legal solutions would be advantageous.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, analytical and communication skills.
• English proficiency is essential; Arabic is advantageous but not mandatory.
• UAE-based candidates are preferred.
• Ability to obtain the required security clearance is essential.
