We are seeking a knowledgeable and mission-driven
Legal Specialist/Advisor
to ensure our organization stays compliant, manages contracts effectively, and connects clients to the legal resources they need for a successful future.
Position Summary
The
Legal Specialist/Advisor
will handle organizational legal compliance, contracts, and policy oversight while also serving as a liaison to connect clients with external legal aid. This role ensures both the organization and its clients are legally protected and supported.
Key Responsibilities
Draft, review, and maintain
contracts, MOUs, and partnership agreements
.
Ensure organizational compliance with
state and federal laws
governing nonprofits, housing, and healthcare billing.
Provide guidance on
policies, procedures, and risk management
.
Support HR with compliance matters related to hiring and employment law.
Assist with client referrals to legal aid services for housing, family law, and reentry issues.
Stay updated on changes in Georgia law that may impact operations or clients.
Work closely with leadership on
legal strategy and risk management
.
Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of
Georgia nonprofit, housing, and healthcare law
.
Excellent
contract review and negotiation
skills.
Ability to explain complex legal matters in simple terms.
Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
High ethical standards and commitment to confidentiality.
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) or Paralegal Certification required.
Licensed attorney in Georgia preferred (or eligibility to practice).
2+ years of legal or compliance experience in
nonprofit, housing, or healthcare
settings preferred.
Experience working with community-based organizations is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay:
$23 - $40 per hour
(based on experience & licensure).
Flexible hybrid/remote schedule.
