Legal Subject Matter Expert (SME) - Hong Kong, Taiwan & Malaysia Remote Legal SME role applying expertise in litigation, contracts, compliance, and IP to annotate legal data, validate AI outputs, and improve accuracy and reasoning in legal AI systems. Work Location: Hong Kong, Taiwan, or Malaysia, remote Engagement Model: Freelancer / Independent Contractor Project Duration: 3 months (with potential extension) Work Schedule: Flexible hours, based on the applicant's availability Language Skills Required: English plus relevant local language preferred DataForce by TransPerfect is seeking experienced Legal Subject Matter Experts based in Hong Kong, Taiwan, or Malaysia with expertise in commercial law, financial regulation, and corporate advisory matters. Main Responsibilities Provide legal expertise in commercial, corporate, and financial regulatory matters. Research legislation, regulations, regulatory guidance, and relevant judicial decisions. Review corporate documents, commercial contracts, financial regulatory materials, and advisory documentation. Annotate and validate jurisdiction-specific legal datasets. Evaluate AI-generated legal responses for accuracy, legal reasoning, and jurisdictional relevance. Verify legal citations and regulatory references. Draft or review legal memoranda, commercial provisions, and structured legal analyses. Collaborate with AI teams to design prompts and evaluation frameworks. Role Requirements Licensed Attorney, JD/LL.M. equivalent graduate, Senior Legal Researcher, or experienced Paralegal. Minimum 3+ years of relevant legal experience . Strong expertise in commercial law, corporate advisory, or financial regulation. Professional English proficiency. Cantonese or Mandarin preferred for Hong Kong. Mandarin preferred for Taiwan. Malay and/or Mandarin is beneficial for Malaysia. Strong legal reasoning, research, statutory analysis, and drafting capabilities. Familiarity with Generative AI and legal technology is a plus.
