Show job description

Interconnect: Counseling and Consulting, LLC, is dedicated to providing mental health evaluations, expert testimony, and trauma-centered training to help immigration law firms and non-profits best represent their clients.

Our bilingual clinicians deliver ethical and culturally responsive care, integrating clients’ stories and clinical concepts into clear, impactful expert reports for legal audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct remote comprehensive immigration evaluations for individuals in various cases, including asylum, VAWA, U visa, T visa, hardship waivers, and, if a PhD-level psychologist, N-648s.
  • Administer culturally sensitive mental health assessments and trauma-informed interviews to assess clients’ mental health and well-being.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports (10 to 20+ pages) detailing clients’ psychosocial histories, evaluation findings, explaining diagnostic criteria, and recommendations for legal (non-clinical) audiences.
  • Collaborate effectively with attorneys, clients, and other professionals involved in the immigration process.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in social work or mental health counseling or a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology from an accredited institution
  • Unrestricted independent license to practice in either Illinois or Michigan. Willingness and ability to obtain licensure in additional states.
  • Fluent in and able to conduct evaluations in Spanish.
  • Dedication to trauma-informed, culturally competent practice.
  • Experience evaluating for and diagnosing mental health conditions.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Experience conducting evaluations for immigration cases and/or the completion of a comprehensive training program.

The role: A remote clinician who conducts mental health evaluations for people in asylum, VAWA, U visa, T visa, and hardship waiver cases (plus N-648s for PhD-level psychologists). Each evaluation combines a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive interview and assessment with a 10- to 20+-page report written for legal audiences. You work closely with clients and a clinical supervisor. Evaluations are conducted in both English and Spanish.

What success looks like: Clear, well-supported reports that attorneys can use with little revision, delivered on deadline. Clients feel safe enough to share their full histories. You are responsive and reliable to refer to, and you keep a steady, sustainable caseload. Proactive integration of feedback from assigned clinical supervisor.

How it fits the organization: Evaluations are one of Interconnect's two branches of service, the other of which is providing trauma-centered trainings to non-clinical audiences. This role adds capacity and extends the practice's ability to serve current and new firms.
