Expo is the open-source React Native framework and the cloud platform built around it. Developers use the Expo SDK, Expo Router, and Expo CLI to write universal apps for Android, iOS, and the web, then use Expo Application Services (EAS) to run the rest of the app lifecycle: EAS Build, Submit, Update, Workflows, and Observe, with EAS Simulators in preview now. We are building mobile AI infrastructure: the framework and services that developers, and the coding agents they work with, use to get real apps into production. React Native is the proof point.
Expo started in 2015. Today the framework sees 2M+ weekly npm downloads and 100K+ weekly active developers, the main repo has 50K+ GitHub stars, and teams at Brex, Coinbase, Flexport, RBI, SpaceX, and Sweetgreen build with it. We are a founding member of the React Foundation and a remote-friendly team of roughly 50 people.
Expo is looking for a Lifecycle Marketing Manager to own how developers and teams experience Expo across the buying journey, from first touch to paying customer and beyond. This is a builder role. You will set the lifecycle strategy, write the messages, and run the programs that educate, activate, convert, and retain users of Expo Application Services (EAS Build, Workflows, Update, Hosting, and Launch). You sit at the intersection of lifecycle, content, and growth, and partner closely with Growth Marketing, Growth Product, Product Marketing, Sales, and Revenue Operations.
Expo is a remote-friendly Series B startup with approximately 50 employees. You will work in a fast-paced environment with real ownership. The ideal candidate has 4–7+ years in lifecycle, email, content, or growth marketing at a B2B SaaS or developer tools company, and wants to shape lifecycle marketing from the ground up.
What You'll Do
Lifecycle Strategy and Execution
- Own the end-to-end lifecycle strategy across lead nurture, onboarding, activation, upgrade, expansion, and retention
- Define lifecycle goals, key moments, and success metrics with Growth Marketing, Growth Product, and Product Marketing
- Build frameworks for each lifecycle stage and audience, from solo developers to enterprise engineering teams
- Test, iterate, and optimize journeys based on performance data and customer insight
Email and In-Product Content
- Write and own lifecycle email journeys: audience segmentation, personalization, behavior-based triggers, and multi-step sequencing
- Own the automation end to end in HubSpot: build, QA, launch, and optimize journeys yourself
- Test copy, subject lines, imagery, and calls to action to improve engagement and conversion
- Keep every program compliant with CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and CCPA as applicable
- Partner with Growth Product and Product Marketing on in-product and customer education content
- Keep lifecycle content consistent, on-brand, and useful to developers
Measurement and Optimization
- Define lifecycle KPIs for engagement, conversion, upgrade, and retention with Growth Marketing, Growth Product, and Revenue Ops
- Analyze performance across lifecycle and content programs to find what to fix and what to scale
- Use quantitative data and qualitative feedback to refine messaging, sequencing, and formats
- Share insights and learnings with cross-functional partners
Agentic Workflows
- Use AI and agentic tools to compress the time from insight to shipped journey, and to build repeatable workflows for the team
Qualities That Make You a Good Fit
- Lifecycle architect. You think deeply about the buyer journey and know how to map messaging, content, and touchpoints to each stage. You have built personalized lifecycle programs at scale that move people forward.
- Strategic storyteller. You are an excellent writer who turns a technical product into clear, specific narratives. You tailor the message by audience, use case, and stage without fluff.
- Growth-minded. You think in funnels, engagement, and impact. You care about what content does, not just how it reads.
- Scrappy but thoughtful. You are comfortable writing copy, shipping drafts, working inside HubSpot, and iterating fast. You also step back to make sure everything ladders up to one coherent lifecycle strategy.
- Pace and accountability. You move fast, own outcomes, and make sure programs ship on time and at quality.
- You know developers (nice to have). You understand the developer ecosystem and what it takes to ship iOS, Android, and web apps. You know developers can smell marketing fluff, and you write accordingly.
- You use AI tools to accelerate your work and the team's work.
What We're Looking For
- 4–7+ years in email marketing, lifecycle marketing, content marketing, or growth marketing
- Experience at a high-growth B2B SaaS or developer tools startup, Series B–C preferred
- Hands-on experience building email journeys end to end, including segmentation, personalization, and lifecycle triggers
- Admin-level experience with marketing automation tools. HubSpot experience is a strong plus.
- Proven ability to create content that drives measurable business outcomes
- Experience working closely with Marketing Ops, Product Marketing, and Growth Marketing
- Up to date on privacy and consent regulations for email
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Comfortable working in ambiguity and building from scratch
- Experience marketing to developers or in product-led growth (PLG) is a plus
