Who We Are

The Lightists is a design-led lighting consultancy working from concept to commissioning. We work as an integrated partner to architects and interior designers - treating light as a design material, not a product transaction.

The Role

We are looking for a Lighting Design Executive - someone who comes from an architectural or interior design background and has developed a serious understanding of lighting as a design discipline.

This is not a product sales role. Not a civil or electrical engineering role. Not a general design role.

If you are an architect or interior designer who has crossed over into lighting - or a lighting designer with formal spatial design training - we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do

• Develop lighting concepts and narratives aligned with architectural and spatial intent
• Prepare concept visuals, mood boards, and lighting strategies
• Run lighting calculations and produce technical layouts using DIALux and AutoCAD
• Read and interpret architectural drawings and design briefs
• Collaborate with architects, interior designers, and our project team
• Support projects from concept through to specification stage

What You Must Have ✅

• A degree in Architecture or Interior Design
• Hands-on understanding of how light interacts with space, materials, and human experience
• Proficiency in DIALux for lighting calculations
• Proficiency in AutoCAD for technical drawing
• Proficiency in Photoshop and/or AI design tools (Midjourney, Adobe Firefly, etc.)
• A portfolio demonstrating design thinking - spatial projects, lighting studies, or concept work

What Will Set You Apart ⭐

• Prior experience in a lighting consultancy, architectural practice, or design studio
• Knowledge of Relux or AGi32 as additional calculation tools
• Familiarity with Revit
• Understanding of European lighting brands and decorative specification

❌ Your background is purely electrical, civil, or mechanical engineering

❌ You are a product/graphic/UI designer without spatial design experience

❌ You do not have a portfolio demonstrating design-led thinking
