Where We Need You
We are seeking an Associate Director, Data & Analytics to play a senior technical and leadership role within Protiviti's UK Data & Analytics practice.
The role combines deep technical expertise with senior client engagement, complex delivery leadership, people and capability development, sales responsibility, bid and proposal leadership and thought leadership. You will shape, design and oversee modern data platforms and advanced data solutions, while also contributing directly to business development, sales growth and the achievement of agreed sales targets for the Data & Analytics practice.
You will bring the technical credibility to engage with senior business and technology stakeholders, make effective architecture decisions and mobilise multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality client outcomes.
What You Can Expect
As an Associate Director, you will provide senior leadership across some of our more complex Data & Analytics engagements and play an important role in strengthening our technical capabilities, client relationships, market offering and sales pipeline.
You will be a trusted adviser to clients and colleagues, helping translate business ambitions into pragmatic data strategies, architectures and delivery approaches. You will combine appropriate hands-on technical contribution with leadership, delegation, governance and oversight.
You will also play an active role in developing people, strengthening reusable capabilities, leading and contributing to bids and proposals, and converting credible opportunities into sustainable revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
Data Architecture & Technical Leadership
- Lead the architecture, design and implementation of scalable, secure and resilient enterprise data platforms.
- Set technical direction across data architecture, data modelling, medallion architecture, data pipelines, advanced analytics and emerging AI solutions.
- Translate complex business and technology objectives into pragmatic architectures, delivery roadmaps and implementation approaches.
- Provide informed technical challenge and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Guide technology choices by balancing scalability, security, performance, cost, maintainability and client constraints.
Complex Delivery Leadership
- Provide senior technical leadership across complex and concurrent Data & Analytics engagements.
- Oversee technical quality, delivery standards, architecture decisions, risks and dependencies.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams and establish appropriate governance, accountability and collaboration across business and technology stakeholders.
- Maintain strong client delivery commitments while balancing wider leadership and practice responsibilities.
- Ensure chargeability is maintained at an optimal level through effective management of client delivery commitments, commercial priorities and wider practice responsibilities.
Modern Data, Analytics & AI
- Provide technical direction across modern cloud data ecosystems and enterprise data platforms.
- Guide the architecture of modular, maintainable and reusable data ingestion, transformation and orchestration solutions.
- Shape advanced analytics solutions and the appropriate application of AI, including generative AI and agentic approaches, to client business challenges.
- Monitor emerging technologies and evolving data practices, assessing their relevance and potential value to clients and Protiviti.
Strategic Client Engagement
- Build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders and act as an adviser on data strategy, architecture and delivery.
- Communicate complex technical topics clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Provide constructive challenge and help clients navigate architecture and technology decisions.
Commercial & Practice Growth
- Lead and contribute to the development of Data & Analytics opportunities through solution design, estimations, proposals, bids and client presentations.
- Take responsibility for sales activity and achievement against an agreed individual sales target, working with practice and account leadership to develop and convert opportunities.
- Shape credible technical solutions that respond to client challenges and support sustainable growth.
- Strengthen client relationships and identify opportunities to extend the value Protiviti provides.
- Contribute to the evolution of Protiviti's Data & Analytics offering through market insight, thought leadership and technical expertise.
People & Capability Leadership
- Lead, coach and develop colleagues, supporting technical development, knowledge sharing and career progression.
- Establish high standards for technical excellence, delivery discipline, collaboration and professional conduct.
- Create an inclusive environment that supports continuous learning and effective development.
- Build strong internal relationships to mobilise the capabilities required for complex client engagements.
- Contribute to reusable methods, assets and accelerators that improve the quality and efficiency of Data & Analytics delivery.
Do Your Talents Include the Following?
- Deep technical expertise within one or more major cloud data ecosystems, including Microsoft Azure and Fabric, Databricks, AWS and Snowflake, or Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery.
- Proven experience architecting and implementing enterprise-scale data platforms within client environments.
- Strong knowledge of modern data architecture patterns, data modelling and layered or medallion architectures.
- Experience designing modular, scalable and maintainable data ingestion, transformation and orchestration solutions.
- Experience of advanced analytics and the practical application of AI to business challenges.
- Strong architecture judgement and the ability to balance technical, commercial and client considerations.
- Proven experience leading complex technical delivery and multidisciplinary teams.
- The ability to oversee multiple priorities while maintaining strong standards of delivery and technical quality.
- Strong senior stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrable experience developing technical capability and coaching others.
- Strong commercial awareness and proven experience contributing to sales growth, solutioning, bids, proposals and client-facing business development activity.
- The ability to operate as a trusted adviser, providing informed recommendations and constructive challenge.
Desirable Experience
- Broad exposure across multiple enterprise data and cloud ecosystems.
- Experience developing reusable data methods, assets, frameworks or accelerators.
- Experience contributing to Data & Analytics propositions or thought leadership.
- Relevant professional or technology certifications.
- Experience applying emerging AI capabilities, including generative AI or agentic solutions, within client environments.
Your Educational & Professional Qualifications
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- Significant professional experience in Data & Analytics, data architecture, data engineering or technology consulting, including senior leadership of complex client engagements.
Our Workplace and Employment Process
Protiviti practices a hybrid wording model, which is a combination of working in person with purpose and working remotely and is primarily dependent upon the needs of our client. The ratio of remote to in-person requirements varies by client, project, team, and other business factors. It can sometimes mean more of a full-time presence at our client. This model creates meaningful experiences for our people and our clients while offering a flexible environment. Our people work both in-person in local Protiviti offices and on client sites, which can include local, or UK wide travel based on our projects and client requests and commitments.
Remuneration and Benefits
Starting salaries are competitive and are based on a full-time equivalent schedule. Placement in the salary range is dependent upon experience, skills and geographic work location.
Employees are eligible for medical and dental insurance cover, life assurance, pension scheme and receive up to 25 days holiday per calendar year. Protiviti also recognises up to 10 paid holidays each calendar year and additional benefits as part of the Robert Half Enterprise.
