About The Company
Waymo is a pioneering autonomous driving technology company with a clear mission to become the world's most trusted driver. Originating as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has dedicated itself to developing the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™. This technology aims to enhance mobility access while significantly reducing the number of lives lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers a fully autonomous ride-hail service and is adaptable to various vehicle platforms and product applications. To date, the Waymo Driver has completed over ten million rider-only trips, backed by more than 100 million miles driven autonomously on public roads and extensive simulation across more than 15 U.S. states.
About The Role
We are establishing a new team in London, UK, within the DUE Machine Learning division, to collaborate closely with our teams in Mountain View and Oxford. This team will focus on building foundational machine learning models and integrating them into evaluation and training products that support our autonomous vehicle technology. We are seeking talented researchers and software engineers passionate about advancing machine learning techniques specifically for evaluation systems on autonomous vehicles. This hybrid role reports to an Engineering Manager and offers the opportunity to contribute to a world-class research engineering team dedicated to pushing the boundaries of ultra-realistic autonomous vehicle simulations through foundation models.
Key aspects of the role include designing experiments to advance simulation realism, developing metrics to assess simulated environments, training and evaluating large models, and integrating these models into simulators and downstream applications. The role also involves participating in hiring efforts to build a diverse and outstanding research engineering team.
Qualifications
Waymo is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.
