We’ve never been ‘just a bank’. Just like you should never be ‘just an employee’. We’re united in our belief that in banking, better can be bigger, and together we’re making it happen.

It starts here. With Bendigo Bank… and you.

We are entering a pivotal era of regulatory transformation across Australia’s anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing regime. We are seeking a technical AML/CTF Policy Specialist known internally as Manager AML/CTF Programs to spearhead the review, design, and end-to-end drafting of our AML/CTF policies and supporting policy architecture in response to the AML/CTF Reforms.

This is not a generalist compliance role, nor is it an operational monitoring or sanctions screening position. It is an artefact-authoring and technical advisory position requiring an AML subject matter expert who can dissect the amended AML/CTF Act and Rules, evaluate enterprise impact, and translate complex legal obligations into robust, actionable policies and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • AML/CTF Policy Architecture: Lead the hands-on drafting, updating, and structuring of the bank’s AML/CTF policies, ensuring rigorous alignment with evolving AUSTRAC requirements and the AML/CTF Reforms.
  • Obligation-to-Artefact Translation: Translate complex legislative and regulatory obligations into enforceable enterprise-wide policies, standard operating procedures, and risk assessment frameworks.
  • AML/CTF Reforms Implementation: Act as the technical policy lead for the AML/CTF Reforms, driving gap analyses against new requirements
  • Policy Governance & Maintenance: Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of financial crime policy artefacts, including stakeholder consultation, executive endorsement, and board-level committee approvals.
  • Technical SME Advisory: Serve as an authoritative 2nd-line advisor on AML/CTF technical matters, advising business units on applying policy requirements to products, channels, and customer types.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Deep AML/CTF Legislative Expertise: In-depth knowledge of the AML/CTF Act 2006, AML/CTF Rules, and the current AML/CTF Reforms.
  • Demonstrated Policy Drafting Track Record: Proven, direct experience authoring, drafting, and maintaining technical AML/CTF policies and standards within Australian retail banking or financial services.
  • Policy Authoring Experience: Tangible experience drafting or substantially updating an AML/CTF Policy
  • Obligation Mapping Skills: Demonstrated ability to trace statutory obligations through to, policies, business standards and operational controls.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Proven capability to defend, communicate, and negotiate technical compliance requirements with senior risk leaders, product owners, and regulators.

Why Bendigo Bank?
This isn't just another role; it’s a reinvention. As part of a smaller, dynamic team, you’ll gain unparalleled exposure and experience. You'll do more, learn more, and grow more, with direct access to key leaders. If you are a resilient and driven leader who wants to make a tangible impact and build something exceptional, this is your opportunity.

We believe a diverse workforce supported by an inclusive culture is central to our success and we actively encourage applications from those who bring diversity of thought to our business. We support candidate requests for adjustment to accommodate an illness, injury, or disability to equitably participate in the selection process.

Still in two minds?

Research suggests 60% of women and underrepresented groups might stop here, even after getting as far as drafting an application. We believe that diversity makes every team stronger, so even if you don’t tick every box we still want to see your application!

We’re making better, bigger. And we’ll get there with you.

Now’s the time to set your sights even higher – on the future you and the future career you deserve.
