Position Summary

We are seeking a commercially minded, highly organized Business Development Manager to lead business development activity for the Debt Capital Markets (DCM) practice within the EMEA Capital Markets Regional Section.

Based in London, the role supports the London DCM team and has a significant UK, EMEA and international focus. The Business Development Manager will work closely with partners, lawyers and business development colleagues across the Firm’s global network to develop and deliver strategic business development, client relationships and marketing initiatives.

The role includes managing the end-to-end pitch and proposal process, implementing business development plans and supporting client targeting, market research, reporting, marketing communications and event activity. A key priority will be to integrate the Firm’s capital markets capabilities into strategic client relationships, strengthen cross-border opportunities and enhance the DCM practice’s market profile.

The Business Development Manager will act as a day-to-day strategic resource for partners and lawyers, providing practical, high-quality support that aligns with the Firm’s wider business strategy. The role requires strong commercial judgment, executive presence, excellent project-management skills and a proactive, results-oriented approach.

The Business Development Manager will report to the Senior Manager, Business Development, and collaborate with business development teams across practices, offices and support functions to shape and execute the EMEA Capital Markets Regional Section’s strategy.

  • Coordinate the creation, maintenance and distribution of DCM practice descriptions, experience lists, marketing brochures and other promotional materials.
  • Plan and manage DCM client events, independently or in collaboration with relevant colleagues, including developing agendas and panels with partners, coordinating speakers and overseeing logistics with the Events team.
  • Prepare and manage submissions and survey responses for legal and business directories and other relevant publications.
  • Work with the PR team to support media opportunities, speaking engagements, business association activities and other profile-raising initiatives.
  • Promote the effective use of business development and marketing technology and data to support growth and informed decision-making.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of business development activities.
  • Support the onboarding and training of EMEA Capital Markets Regional Section team members in London and across EMEA, including mentoring junior colleagues, reviewing work product and contributing to performance-goal setting.
  • Share knowledge, insight and best practices with Business Development, Client & Industries and Marketing colleagues across the Firm’s global network, including through firm-wide pitch initiatives and consistent, client-focused proposal delivery.
  • Promote effective working practices, collaboration and a respectful team environment.
  • Support other projects and strategic initiatives as assigned by the line manager.

As you build experience in the role and the needs of the EMEA Capital Markets group evolve, your responsibilities will develop accordingly. This list highlights the current priorities supporting business development for the EMEA region and is not intended to be exhaustive.
