  • Help shape auditor independence outcomes that protect Deloitte's reputation, support regulatory compliance, and influence decisions across the firm.

  • Belong to a workplace that values diversity, equity and inclusion

  • Mentoring, coaching and leadership programs to help you make an impact that matters

This is an exciting Manager opportunity in our Independence team within Quality & Risk, with a preference for Sydney and openness to Melbourne, Perth or Brisbane.

What will your typical day look like?

In this role, you'll provide critical support to the Deloitte business on auditor independence matters, helping partners and client-facing teams identify risks, interpret policy, and make sound decisions. The work spans technical advice, consultation support, engagement acceptance activities, and monitoring programs that help maintain compliance with independence requirements.

A big part of your impact will come from balancing quality, risk and service delivery. You'll oversee systems, processes and procedures, manage workflow across the team, and help ensure matters raised by the business are responded to accurately and on time. You'll also identify trends and recurring issues that call for clearer guidance, stronger controls, or targeted training.

Alongside the technical work, you'll play an important leadership role. That includes coaching junior team members, supporting capability uplift across the team, and building strong working relationships with partners, business risk teams and Deloitte's global independence network to solve complex issues and improve how the function operates.

About the team

The Independence team sits within Deloitte's Quality & Risk group, which enables the business and helps elevate trust in the Deloitte brand. This team is responsible for supporting Deloitte Australia to comply with audit firm independence requirements, including obligations set by the APESB, the US Securities and Exchange Commission and the Australian Corporations Act 2001. It's a high-profile area with real regulatory, reputational and commercial significance.

Enough about us, let's talk about you

You may have all or some of the following skills/experiences:

  • Professional qualifications and strong working knowledge of auditor independence requirements

  • Experience in risk management, regulatory, compliance, or a related governance environment

  • Experience leading people, coaching junior team members, and managing team delivery

  • Strong ability to interpret policy and apply it to practical, real-world scenarios

  • Experience designing, documenting and improving frameworks, processes or controls

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, including confidence engaging with senior leaders

  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and sound judgement when handling complex issues

  • Project management capability, with the ability to manage competing deadlines and drive work through to completion
