But what truly powers 2K is our people.

We believe the best ideas come from teams that feel empowered, supported, and inspired. As an equal opportunity employer, we are committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive workplace where people are encouraged to come as they are and do their best work.

What We Need

2K is looking for a Manager, Community Relations to drive the community management vision, strategy, and execution for the BioShock franchise with a primary focus on engaging within the Steam, Discord, and Reddit platforms. In this position, you are the voice of the community, and will work closely with both the Development and 2K Global Marketing teams, serving as the player advocate to help define and drive community building and engagement to our passionate players and longtime franchise fans. You will build out and maintain community channels, such as Discord and Steam, as well as use social listening and analytics tools to measure the needs of our player communities, and regularly report on those needs to our product marketing and development teams, driving meaningful, player-first change in-game and out.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Community Relations, the ideal candidate will be a gaming enthusiast with a passion narrative, single-player games intimately familiar with all of the BioShock franchise games, with a deep drive for activating and growing communities in innovative and impactful ways. The ideal candidate will be able to join us in office three days a week (Tuesday-Thursday) in Los Angeles California.

What You’ll Do

Community Relations (Voice of the Consumer):

  • Engage and build relationships with our players across numerous community platforms including Steam, Discord, Reddit and more.
  • Partner with 2K Brand, Social, Influencer, Communications, and our Development partners, to champion the needs and wants of our players and help improve our game experiences.
  • Create and maintain a feedback loop for title communities and brainstorm ways to cross-leverage and promote our players and their needs to the 2K Marketing teams and Studio stakeholders.
  • Use analytics and social listening tools to identify and quantify player needs, using these insights to build regular reports that inform our wider marketing and development teams, ensuring the player voice is heard.
  • Assist the marketing, social, and communication teams with coordination and execution of various marketing requests of the development team.
  • Work directly with our external agencies to build player response messaging plans and moderation guides, primarily on Discord and Steam reviews/forums.

Community Growth Strategy (Influencing our Marketing):

  • Collaborate with cross-functional publishing partners (Global Brand Marketing, Communications, Product Development, Partnerships & Licensing, Legal, and the studio) in defining the community growth strategies for our beloved communities across the studio portfolio and the platforms where our experiences are featured.
  • Develop and execute against key Community programs that celebrate and promote our passionate fan base for the advocates that they are, stoking the core and incentivizing new fans to join and grow our communities.
  • Assist with identification of key creator opportunities that can both engage and grow our communities in the most creative and positive ways possible.
  • Ladder up all community activations in support of the master Go To Market Strategies for our titles.
  • Leveraging various sentiment and conversation listening tools, developing community engagement and growth performance metrics, providing regular performance analysis and reporting on player sentiment, needs and wants.

What Will Make You a Great Fit

  • You have 4 - 6 years working in a comparable digital community building and/or social role within gaming, media or entertainment.
  • Innate knowledge, experience, and passion for engaging and growing core entertainment communities, developing meaningful ground floor relationships that create fans for life.
  • Deep understanding of community management platform nuances, as well as the creator and influencer ecosystem (especially Steam, Reddit, Twitch, YouTube, Discord).
  • Extensive knowledge of analytical tools such as LevelUp, Radarly, Discord analytics, Tubular, and Sprinklr, and using these tools to build reports and feedback processes that speak to our wide cross functional teams.
  • Highly collaborative with others, contributing creative and innovative ideas for engaging and growing our community!
  • Outgoing, intellectually curious and can proactively reach out to people to build key relationships.
  • You are willing to roll up your sleeves and get things done.
  • You are highly organized, timely and communicative.
