ThredUp has processed over 172 million unique secondhand items from 55,000 brands across 100 categories. By extending the life cycle of clothing, ThredUp is changing the way consumers shop and ushering in a more sustainable future for the fashion industry. Recognized on TIME Most Influential Companies of 2023, Digiday's WorkLife 50 2023, TIME's Best Inventions of 2022, and Lattice's People Success Awards 2022. How You Will Make An Impact ThredUp is looking for a Manager, CRM Technology & Operations to manage the systems, people, and processes that support personalized customer engagement across email, SMS, push, and in-app messaging. This role sits at the intersection of lifecycle marketing, marketing technology, data, product, and engineering. You will help execute and evolve our CRM technology ecosystem, with a particular focus on Braze architecture, data and event integrations, audience and segmentation capabilities, cross-channel orchestration, personalization, measurement, and operational scale. You will also manage the day-to-day work of the individuals responsible for technical CRM production and campaign quality . The ideal candidate is a player-coach who can translate strategy into execution, troubleshoot complex technical issues, configure campaigns and segments, review code, improve production processes, and coach others through change. In This Role You’ll Get To: Lead the day-to-day work of the CRM technology and technical operations team, supporting campaign production, QA, documentation, tooling, governance, and operating standards. Manage and execute the Braze roadmap, partnering with CRM leadership and cross-functional teams to assess platform capabilities, surface technical risks and tradeoffs, and support prioritization across the CRM technology ecosystem. Partner with Data Engineering, Analytics, Product, and Engineering to improve the flow and activation of customer data from the warehouse, CDP, and other systems. Design and build complex, personalized, cross-channel customer journeys , including campaigns, canvases, segments, templates, and personalization logic across email, SMS, push, and in-app messaging. Assess and improve CRM systems and workflows by identifying capability and ownership gaps, then implementing automation, reusable templates, better tooling, and scalable operating processes. Translate lifecycle strategies into scalable technical solutions , including data requirements, events, attributes, subscription groups, audience logic, personalization, orchestration, experimentation, and measurement. Ensure strong governance across permissions, compliance, deliverability, subscription management, data quality, naming conventions, documentation, and change management. Evaluate and implement new martech, AI, and machine-learning capabilities that improve customer engagement and team productivity. Serve as the primary technical partner to Braze and other marketing technology vendors. What We’re Looking For: 7+ years of experience in CRM technology , marketing operations, lifecycle marketing, marketing systems, or a related technical discipline. Experience leading and developing a CRM operations, marketing technology, email development, or technical production team. Deep hands-on experience with Braze or a comparable customer engagement platform. Braze experience is strongly preferred and may be required depending on the candidate’s background. Strong judgment and communication skills, with the ability to translate between technical and non-technical audiences . Experience designing and implementing complex, multi-step orchestration across email, SMS, push, and in-app messaging . Experience with marketing systems architecture , including data models, customer events, APIs, integrations, identity, warehouse or CDP activation, and platform governance. A technical foundation as a developer, email engineer, marketing technologist , or CRM systems architect—with the ability to read and write HTML, CSS, Liquid, JavaScript, SQL, or similar languages. Experience hand-coding emails or building CRM campaigns directly , rather than operating solely as a project manager or requirements requester. Strong understanding of audience segmentation, personalization, experimentation, deliverability, consent management, subscription groups, and channel-specific constraints. Proven ability to partner effectively with Data Engineering, Analytics, Product, Engineering, Creative, and Marketing stakeholders. Experience managing complex cross-functional programs and prioritizing a roadmap across competing business needs. Experience with project and workflow management tools such as Jira, Asana, Airtable, or similar platforms. Curiosity about agentic AI, machine learning , adaptive systems, and emerging applications in CRM and marketing technology. You’ll Be Successful If You Can move comfortably between strategy and execution—from defining a future-state architecture to troubleshooting a campaign that is failing today. Have led an ESP migration, Braze implementation, data architecture effort, or major CRM platform transformation. Know how to evaluate whether an operational problem is caused by people, process, tooling, approvals, staffing, or system limitations. Are willing to challenge inefficient ways of working while bringing the team along. Build durable systems: clear documentation, reusable workflows, scalable templates, strong governance, and measurable success criteria. Understand how CRM technology can support both near-term revenue and long-term retention, personalization, and customer value. At ThredUp, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays between $ 175,000 and $200,000, and your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
