Every day, millions of Australians connect, work, stream, and stay in touch on the Optus network. When it works seamlessly, it's easy to take for granted. But behind it is a team making thousands of decisions every day - decisions that keep people, businesses and communities connected.
Lead the end-to-end testing, certification and quality assurance of Optus fixed and mobile devices and software releases, ensuring compliance with network, customer and regulatory requirements. Own the device testing portfolio, including planning, governance, prioritisation and delivery for more than 60 device launches annually. Drive the ongoing development and operation of the device testing capability, providing risk-based recommendations and readiness assessments to support successful product launches.
What You’ll Do
- Own the strategy, planning, governance, resourcing and delivery of the fixed and mobile device testing portfolio.
- Define and maintain testing standards, methodologies, certification criteria and governance processes.
- Lead end-to-end device, software, interoperability, performance and network testing activities.
- Manage defect resolution, risk assessment, issue escalation and certification decisions to support successful launches.
- Provide device readiness recommendations and clear communication of launch risks and mitigation plans.
- Oversee the device testing laboratory roadmap, including equipment, tooling, environments, maintenance and budget management.
- Lead vendor and stakeholder relationships while developing team capability, driving continuous improvement, automation and testing efficiency.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience leading device, network or technology testing and quality assurance functions.
- Strong knowledge of fixed and mobile devices, interoperability, software releases and certification processes.
- Expertise in test strategy, governance, defect management, risk assessment and release readiness.
- Experience establishing and operating technical testing laboratories, including tooling, equipment and lifecycle management.
- Strong program and portfolio management capability, including prioritisation, capacity planning and budget oversight.
- Demonstrated people leadership experience, including coaching, capability development and building high-performing teams.
- Ability to influence stakeholders, vendors and suppliers while translating complex technical risks into clear business outcomes.
The good stuff …
- Competitive remuneration and employee discounts. Make life easier (and more affordable) with $80 monthly credit and 25% off Optus products and unique shopping discounts with our retail partners.
- Flexible working arrangements with opportunities to work three days in the office, two days remote or home.
- Competitive leave policies, including additional 'Connected’ days to focus on culture, family, health, community, or whatever’s important to you.
- We support growing families with inclusive, carer-neutral paid Parental Leave of up to 16 weeks.
- Direct your own development and build future-ready skills with Optus U’s industry-focused micro-credentials, developed with La Trobe and Macquarie Universities.
- Build meaningful connections through employee-led networks and diversity initiatives including Culture Connect, Elevate Women, Disability Network and Express Yourself (LGBTQIA+).
- Put your wellbeing first with free access to counselling and support services, 24/7 — in-person, by phone, SMS, or video.
