WE ARE HIRING: Manager - External Manufacturing Operations Location: Nittambuwa, Sri Lanka Employment Type: Full time Company Industry: FMCG / Consumer Goods Manufacturing Role Overview We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Manager - External Manufacturing Operations to lead engineering activities, project implementation, productivity improvement, cost optimization, and compliance across external manufacturing sites. The selected candidate will be responsible for delivering technical and infrastructure projects on time and within budget, improving manufacturing performance, preparing sites for compliance audits, and coordinating with internal and external teams to ensure safe and efficient operations. Key Responsibilities Lead engineering activities and technical project implementation across external manufacturing sites. Manage infrastructure, equipment, and operational improvement projects from planning through completion. Drive productivity improvement, cost-saving, and technical development initiatives. Identify opportunities for value engineering and operational efficiency. Prepare project plans, budgets, timelines, resource requirements, and cost estimates. Monitor project progress, expenditure, risks, and delivery against approved objectives. Ensure technical projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to required quality standards. Coordinate with manufacturing sites, engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. Support project approvals and ensure effective execution of approved initiatives. Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, quality, and human-rights standards. Prepare external manufacturing sites for HRRB audits and other compliance assessments. Review audit findings and coordinate timely corrective and preventive actions. Monitor site compliance and support continuous improvement in safety and risk-management practices. Provide technical guidance to remote manufacturing sites and support the resolution of operational issues. Prepare management reports, project updates, cost analyses, and performance presentations. Maintain accurate project, audit, compliance, and technical documentation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between operational, commercial, quality, and engineering priorities. Candidate Profile Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering . Minimum 10 years of experience in technical management, engineering, or project management within the FMCG industry. Strong experience managing engineering and infrastructure projects in a manufacturing environment. Practical experience working with external manufacturers or remotely managed production sites. Experience in HRRB compliance , audit preparation, and corrective-action management. Strong knowledge of project management, value engineering, productivity improvement, and cost optimization. Commercial awareness with experience in budgeting, project estimation, and cost control. Good understanding of health, safety, environmental, quality, and human-rights compliance requirements. Strong analytical, planning, risk-management, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder-management abilities. Ability to coordinate effectively with technical teams, contractors, suppliers, and senior management. Strong leadership capability with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. Detail-oriented, accountable, and capable of working independently across remote locations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant project-management or engineering tools.
