Job Description Summary:

GRF, Focus Partners Business Management is seeking a Manager, Label Administration, with experience handling complex label royalty accounting to join their team of professionals. The Manager, Label Administration, is responsible for the supervision of Label Administration analysts and oversight of royalty administration label clients.

This position is fully remote with a preference for this person to be located in Los Angeles, CA, New York, NY, Nashville, TN, or Toronto, ON.

Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the preparation of mechanical, artist, producer, and net profit royalty accountings for independent label clients.

  • Interpret and summarize royalty terms in artist and third-party agreements to aid analysts in royalty software setup.

  • Ensure accuracy of royalty rate calculations for artists, third parties, and joint venture statements, including PPD royalty rates and net profit arrangements.

  • Review distribution sales files and other income is accurately uploaded to the royalty system and properly mapped to products and contracts.

  • Review recoupable costs, net profit expenses, and advances and ensure they are correctly applied to artist and third-party statements.

  • Conduct quality assurance checks for all statement drafts before delivery to clients and finalization in royalty software.

  • Assist the team in meeting the varying deadlines of label administration clients.

  • Lead initiatives that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of royalty reporting and related department processes.

  • Handle high-level analysis and correspondence for client specific requests that fall outside of the royalty statement preparation cycles.

  • Perform other projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • 5+ years senior-level music royalty experience at a major label, large independent label, or business management royalty department.

  • Hands-on experience preparing and reviewing mechanical, artist, producer, third-party, joint venture, and net profit royalty accountings and agreements for master-side label clients.

  • Experience supervising analysts or royalty accounting staff, including reviewing work, training team members, delegating tasks, and helping the team meet time-sensitive reporting deadlines.

  • Advanced knowledge of one or more industry standard royalty systems, including Curve, RoyaltyShare, RyteBox (formerly known as SR1), Record Maestro, Infinite Catalogue, or similar platforms.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to respond in a timely, professional manner to all royalty inquiries from clients, managers, attorneys, and employees.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to create and maintain a trusting relationship with staff and clients.

This position is an exempt position. The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between $85,000 - $125,000 base salary compensation range. Actual base pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, subject matter expertise, geographic location where work will be performed, and the applicant’s skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus and a comprehensive benefits package, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k).
