Reporting to the Chief Pricing Actuary, the Manager, M&A Actuarial plays a key role in evaluating acquisition and reinsurance opportunities by providing actuarial assessments of reserves and capital requirements within fast-paced transaction environments. This position supports the M&A team through financial analysis, pricing, transaction structuring, and actuarial due diligence activities to assess the risks and value of potential opportunities. Working closely with senior stakeholders across the organization, the role contributes to informed transaction decisions while maintaining the highest standards of objectivity, professionalism, confidentiality, and commercial judgment.
  • Qualified Property & Casualty (P&C) Actuary (FIA, FCAS, FIAA, FSA, or equivalent actuarial designation).
  • Minimum 7-10 years of actuarial experience within the insurance or reinsurance industry, including significant post-qualification experience.
  • Strong experience in reserving and/or pricing across a broad range of P&C insurance and reinsurance classes.
  • Demonstrated experience performing actuarial due diligence, reserve reviews, or transaction support activities within an M&A, consulting, legacy, run-off, or corporate development environment.
  • Experience developing and reviewing deterministic and stochastic actuarial analyses and communicating clusions to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience evaluating and pricing reinsurance structures, including Loss Portfolio Transfers (LPTs), Adverse Development Covers (ADCs), and other legacy transaction structures.
  • Proficiency in actuarial reserving and modelling software such as ResQ, or equivalent actuarial platforms.
  • Advanced data analysis skills, including data manipulation, reconciliation, and validation using actuarial and analytical tools.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and deliver high-quality work within compressed transaction timelines.
  • Experience presenting actuarial findings and commercial recommendations to executive leadership, boards, regulators, clients, or external advisors.
  • Previous experience coaching, mentoring, or supervising actuarial analysts and junior actuaries.
For each M&A project assigned:
  • Lead the evaluation of subject reserves through independent actuarial analysis using both deterministic and stochastic methodologies, and share results with other M&A Actuarial team members to facilitate detailed peer review.
  • Review actuarial methodologies, assumptions, reports, and other information received from vendors
  • Review data received and perform accurate analysis, manipulation, reconciliation, and loading into actuarial software to support independent actuarial analysis.
  • Lead effective engagement with vendor actuaries and claims personnel to gain deeper insights into the subject reserves.
  • Perform regulatory capital calculations under Bermuda and/or Solvency II frameworks at both legal entity and Group levels.
  • Provide actuarial expertise to support the pricing of contract structures, including Loss Portfolio Transfers (LPTs) and Adverse Development Covers (ADCs).
  • Lead the effective communication of due diligence findings through verbal discussions, actuarial reports, memoranda, and presentations to the wider M&A team, Executive Committee, Board, and broader organization, while maintaining strong commercial awareness of associated opportunities and risks.
  • Support the integration of successful transactions through knowledge transfer, data sharing, and assistance with Day 1 reserve calculations.
  • Manage multiple projects with accuracy and strict adherence to deadlines, regardless of fluctuations in transaction volume.
  • Collaborate with other functions within the M&A team and across the wider organization, sharing expertise and providing valuable input.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop less experienced members of the M&A Actuarial team, fostering technical excellence and professional growth.
