Position Summary:
American Public Media Group is seeking a Manager of Audience Analytics to join the Audience Insights & Analytics team. This role offers a unique opportunity to use data and insights to support audience growth, fundraising performance, operational effectiveness, and community impact at a mission-driven media organization.
The Manager of Audience Analytics leads the Audience Analytics team, develops staff, prioritizes analytics resources, and delivers actionable insights that support organizational decision-making. The role is primarily partnered with the Membership and Audience Development & Marketing team. They also support Philanthropic Development, Broadcast, Digital Products, Finance, and other teams across the organization.
Success in this role requires a combination of people leadership, technical expertise, business judgment, and stakeholder partnership. The ideal candidate can manage competing priorities, guide and review analytical work, contribute directly when appropriate, and translate complex data into clear recommendations that inform strategic and operational decisions.
Expected Compensation Range: $105,000 -$115,000 per year. The exact salary rate is determined by experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure, and internal equity.

Position Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Audience Analytics team through coaching, performance management, workload prioritization, and professional development.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and stakeholder-focused team culture that promotes innovation and continuous improvement.
- Establish team priorities and allocate resources across strategic initiatives, recurring reporting, and ad hoc stakeholder needs.
- Serve as a strategic analytics leader and trusted advisor to Membership, Philanthropic Development, Audience Development, Marketing, Broadcast, Digital Products, Finance, and other teams.
- Lead analytics initiatives supporting audience growth, fundraising performance, retention, engagement, revenue planning, and other organizational priorities.
- Partner with organizational leaders to define business objectives, develop measurement strategies, and translate complex data into actionable insights, recommendations, risks, and opportunities.
- Oversee the collection, integration, analysis, and interpretation of audience, donor, marketing, and business data from internal and external sources.
- Direct the development and continuous improvement of reporting, dashboards, scorecards, forecasts, and other decision-support tools.
- Ensure the quality, governance, documentation, and effective use of audience, donor, and marketing data and analytical processes.
- Lead and review advanced analyses that identify trends, opportunities, and drivers of audience, donor, and business performance.
- Partner with business and technical teams to improve analytics capabilities, data infrastructure, reporting processes, system implementations, and measurement practices.
- Monitor developments in analytics, artificial intelligence, first-party data strategy, and audience measurement, and identify practical opportunities for organizational use.
- Manage relationships with external vendors, consultants, and data partners, including oversight of contracts, deliverables, and performance.
- Represent the Audience Insights & Analytics team in cross-functional initiatives and organizational planning efforts, championing the effective use of data in decision-making.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, economics, business, analytics, mathematics, data science, statistics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 7+ years of experience in marketing, audience, donor, customer, database, or business analytics, including experience translating data into recommendations that inform business decisions.
- Experience managing and developing direct reports, including coaching, performance management, workload prioritization, goal setting, and professional development.
- 4+ years of experience using SQL independently for data extraction, transformation, validation, troubleshooting, and analysis of large or complex data sets.
- 2+ years of experience developing dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or a similar business intelligence platform.
- Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships, influence decision-making, and communicate effectively with leaders and stakeholders across multiple business functions.
- Strong analytical, communication, project-management, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities and translate complex analysis into actionable business recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate analytical work, investigate data discrepancies, validate findings, and communicate appropriate limitations and risks.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Experience leading analytics teams supporting fundraising, marketing, membership, subscription, media, digital publishing, nonprofit, or related organizations.
- Experience working with Salesforce, Marketing Cloud, or other CRM and marketing activation platforms and their associated data.
- Advanced SQL proficiency and experience with one or more additional analytical languages or tools, such as DAX, R, Python, or SAS.
- Experience with analytical techniques such as segmentation, clustering, predictive modeling, lifetime-value analysis, attribution, media mix modeling, or forecasting.
- Experience analyzing content, audience, digital, membership, subscription, donor, or fundraising performance.
- Experience developing analytics roadmaps, prioritizing portfolios of work, and balancing strategic initiatives with recurring reporting and stakeholder support.
- Experience improving data governance, data quality, reporting frameworks, analytics infrastructure, or documented analytical workflows.
- Knowledge of first-party data strategy, marketing measurement, audience development, donor behavior, digital measurement, or customer lifecycle analytics.
