Job Title: Manager of Board Relations & Special Projects Employee Type: Permanent, Full-Time (exempt) Reports To: Deputy Chief of Staff Department: Executive Office Entity: NDWA Hours per Week: 40hr per wk Salary: $85,000 - $90,0000 Work Location: Remote: with required travel (25%) Start Date: Sept. 15th BACKGROUND: The National Domestic Workers Alliance (NDWA) is the leading national voice for dignity, respect, and recognition for domestic workers in the United States. NDWA was founded in 2007 by organizers and worker leaders in six cities representing nannies, house cleaners, and care workers, and now represents an alliance of more than 60 organizations across 22 states and 395,000 domestic workers nationally. We envision a society where domestic work is valued as essential to our collective well-being, domestic workers are leaders in shaping the care sector, and domestic work jobs are good, economically secure jobs. For nearly 20 years, we’ve worked to advance our mission by making domestic work visible. We’ve worked to pass policies that enable rights and higher wages for domestic workers across the country, changed public awareness and opinion about the dignity and value of care work, and built the capacity and leadership of domestic workers to organize and advocate for their rights. We see the next era of our organization as an opportunity to move domestic work from newfound visibility towards transformation, and we’re ready to elevate care workers to the essential workers of the 21st-century economy. POSITION SUMMARY: The National Domestic Workers Alliance is seeking a proactive, thoughtful, and values-aligned individual to play a central role in our Executive Office. The Manager of Board Relations and Special Projects will work closely with the Deputy Chief of Staff and Executive Office Coordinator to provide direct support to the Executive Director, manage communication with two Boards (National Domestic Workers Alliance & Care in Action), and execute organizational priorities and special projects as identified by the Executive Office. This position will ensure that the time of the Executive Director and Board is prioritized in alignment with the organization’s goals. This person may be asked to lead high-priority special projects that are critical to the organization, requiring extensive cross-team collaboration and, at times, travel or in-person support for principals and staff. PRIMARY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary Responsibilities: Board Management Manage all engagement with the c3 and c4 Board of Directors on behalf of the Executive Director Develop a year-long communication strategy for interfacing with both boards, aimed at keeping them up-to-date on the organization’s priorities, finances, and strategy Serve as the organization's subject matter expert on Board bylaws, and organize communications and cross-team work related to the Board around that governing document Schedule, plan, and execute all in-person and virtual board meetings and retreats Attend all board meetings and draft agendas and record accurate minutes for governance documentation Support the recruitment, onboarding, and term transitions of C4 board members to ensure consistent governance and leadership continuity Executive Support & Budget Management Prepare research and briefing documents for the Executive Director before meetings and public events, including coordinating with staff, partners, and other experts to gather input and feedback Attend meetings to record notes as requested and support the Executive Director with follow-up, including direct coordination with staff and partners to execute Consult with the Executive Office Coordinator to maximize the Executive Director’s time through assisting on email correspondence, scheduling, and planning Support the Deputy Chief of Staff in managing and tracking the budget of the Executive Office Support executive team data management, drive storage and manage digital security protocols for the executive office Internal and External Communications Field, assess, and respond to requests and inquiries from the public and staff, and coordinate with the Deputy Chief of Staff on required follow-up Serve as the primary liaison to the Special Advisor to the President Liaise with external partners and public speaking agents to execute and support the Executive Director’s public engagements Liaise with the press and communications team to oversee the Executive Director’s extensive media opportunities Support in the writing and development of strategic communications, both internal and external, in collaboration with the Deputy Chief of Staff and Executive Director Office & Project Management Establish protocol and manage all requests of the Executive Office and information funneling up to the President and Executive Director Manage special projects of strategic priority to the President and Executive Director Organizational Systems Support Support the Deputy Chief of Staff by providing operational support and strategic insight on both Executive Office and organization-wide projects Support the Deputy Chief of Staff, organization, and Executive Office through key participation in the annual strategic planning and budgeting process Executive Office Coverage When the Executive Office Coordinator or Deputy Chief of Staff is out-of-office provide coverage in scheduling, all-staff communications, and organizational program management Qualifications Expertise, skill, and interest in board and office operations, travel and calendar management, budgeting, retreat planning, digital and physical security management Skilled proficiency in Google Suite, including Google Calendar, Google Docs, and Google Sheets Significant experience and skill in developing presentation decks that are informational, exciting, and visually appealing is a plus The ability to travel domestically at least 25% of the year to directly support the Executive Director Excellent attention to detail and highly organized Excellent verbal and written communication skills Experience managing multiple projects and tasks with strong time management Thoughtful and intentional, with a natural inclination to support the Executive Director in celebrating staff, partners, and others Self motivated with a proven ability to work independently and in partnership with a highly motivated team Agreement and alignment with NDWA's vision and values Bilingual (Spanish preferred) is a plus, but not required How to Apply: Please apply directly to the job posting by sharing your resume and a writing sample (less than 750 words).
