Looking for a role with broad exposure across the renewable-energy value chain? As an Operational Technology Manager, you will work closely with international teams, suppliers and partners to coordinate and drive IT and OT requirements across renewable-energy projects.

Within Renewables Business Area you would be important part of our Engineering team. The team is fundamental in providing engineering solutions for all utility-scale solar, wind and hybrid projects, together with the colleagues from other teams.


About the role

We are looking for an OT Manager to define, coordinate and ensure the execution of Information Technology and Operational Technology requirements for new wind, solar and battery energy storage system projects. The role covers the project lifecycle from development and engineering through construction, commissioning and handover.

You will act as a key interface between project organizations, EPC contractors, original equipment manufacturers, SCADA and integration suppliers, Dispatch (Corporate Customer and Markets) and internal IT. The role focuses on coordination, governance and technical project execution. Detailed engineering design remains with the relevant specialists and suppliers.

As an Operational Technology Manager, you will:

  • Act as the Operational Technology Project Manager in Wind, Solar and BESS projects.
  • Define and coordinate project IT/OT scope and requirements during development and execution.
  • Ensure Fortum and other parties IT/OT requirements are included in Purchaser Requirements, technical appendices and supplier documentation in pre-engineering, procurement and project execution.
  • Coordinate control-room, SCADA, communications, connectivity, business-application and system-integration planning.
  • Support procurement, technical evaluations, vendor clarifications and design reviews.
  • Participate in factory and site acceptance testing, the implementation planning and commissioning support.

In addition, you will monitor IT/OT progress, risks, issues, dependencies, documentation and handover readiness as well as promote practical standardisation and lessons learned across wind, solar, BESS and hybrid projects. You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of our frameworks, processes and ways of working

About you

What we are looking for:

  • A relevant university degree in engineering, automation, information technology, operational technology or a related discipline.
  • Experience in IT/OT scope coordination within energy, infrastructure or industrial projects.
  • Experience with industrial control systems (ICS) and automation architectures.
    Knowledge of HMI development and industrial communications.
  • Good understanding of SCADA, communications, networks, system integration, testing and commissioning.
  • Knowledge of OT cybersecurity principles, network segmentation, asset inventories and cybersecurity standards
  • Ability to translate operational, cybersecurity and business requirements into a clear and executable project scope.

We also hope that you bring strong project coordination, stakeholder management and supplier collaboration skills, combined with a structured and service-oriented way of working. You are able to balance and prioritize competing requirements in a transparent manner while maintaining effective collaboration across different stakeholders. You communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of Finnish and Swedish is considered an advantage.
