From coast to coast to coast, the Architectural Institute of British Columbia (“AIBC”) is grateful to live, learn and work on the traditional and ancestral territories of the Indigenous Peoples who have been and continue to be the stewards of the land. The AIBC head office is located on x ʷ m ə θk ʷə y ̓ə m (Musqueam), S ḵ wx ̱ w ú 7mesh (Squamish), and s ə lilw ə ta ɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) nations lands, in Coast Salish Territory. The AIBC is seeking a Manager, People Operations to join our dedicated and high-performing team. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), this permanent, full-time position is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR leader who is passionate about people, organizational effectiveness, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will provide leadership across the employee and volunteer lifecycle, office operations, and organizational development initiatives. This role is well suited to a collaborative professional who enjoys balancing strategy with hands-on execution and is motivated by contributing to professional regulation in the public interest. About Us The AIBC is a professional regulator with the mandate to regulate the profession of architecture in British Columbia in the interest of the public. The AIBC was established in 1920 by provincial statute, and since 2023, has governed the profession under the authority of the Professional Governance Act . The AIBC provides flexible working arrangements and has adopted a hybrid working environment where most staff split their time between the AIBC offices and working remotely. Our dog-friendly office is located in a heritage building in downtown Vancouver, and near a variety of excellent cultural, restaurant and commuter options. About the Role As a member of the management team, the Manager, People Operations provides leadership for the People Operations department and oversees the organization's human resources function, office operations, volunteer program, and change management initiatives. Working closely with the CAO, the Manager ensures people programs, systems, and practices support organizational effectiveness, employee engagement, and the AIBC's strategic priorities. The core responsibilities include: Design and deliver people programs and initiatives that align with the AIBC's mission, values, and organizational objectives while fostering positive employee and volunteer experiences; Optimizing programs and policies, systems, metrics and processes across people operations, to support organizational performance and facilitate strong team engagement; Managing the full employee lifecycle from start to finish including recruitment, performance management, development, retention, and recognition; Managing the AIBC Volunteer Program, in close collaboration with Departmental Staff Representatives, including recruitment, performance, development and recognition of volunteers; Managing AIBC office operations to provide a safe, productive, and efficient workplace and systems for all staff; Advancing training and development, performance planning and management, safety and health programs, and team engagement initiatives and events; Ensuring compliance with employment, work safety and privacy legislation and best practices; and Championing Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at the AIBC and fostering a positive, productive, welcoming, healthy and safe workplace for all staff and volunteers. About You We are seeking an experienced and motivated people leader who thrives in collaborative environments and is excited to make a meaningful impact through strategic and operational human resources leadership. Specifically, we are looking for a professional with: A university degree in a relevant field; or a diploma in Human Resources from a recognized post-secondary institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation 5+ years of progressive human resources experience, including direct supervision of staff, team leadership, and responsibility for HR programs and initiatives Experience in organizational needs analysis, change management, optimizing technology and business processes to drive efficiency Experience in program creation and delivery, HR project management, policy work and implementation of standard operating procedures Experience with BambooHR is considered an asset Affinity for building connections, trust and shared meaning with diverse individuals and groups Sound judgment, and ability to act with tact when dealing with sensitive or confidential matters Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation) Highly organized and proactive, with a solutions-oriented mindset, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively Knowledge of, or experience in, the regulatory sector is considered an asset Compensation and Benefits We offer a collaborative culture, flexible work arrangements, meaningful work, and the opportunity to make a lasting organizational impact.
