The Indiana University Foundation (IUF) advances Indiana University by strengthening the relationships and resources that help IU thrive. As an IUF employee, you’ll be part of a team that supports the shared success of both the Indiana University Foundation and the Indiana University Alumni Association, bringing together philanthropy, alumni engagement, and meaningful connections to advance IU and its communities.
Together, we connect alumni, donors, and friends with opportunities to make a difference for Indiana University. Whether inspiring generosity, building lifelong relationships, or providing the expertise and support that make this work possible, every member of our team contributes to IU’s impact.
At IUF, we value collaboration, innovation, data-informed strategy, and meaningful relationships. We’re committed to an inclusive workplace where people can grow, contribute their unique perspectives, and do purpose-driven work in support of IU today and for generations to come.
The IU Foundation is looking for a Manager for Personal Property Gifts to guide donor gifts from the first conversation to their new home within IU.
This brand-new role on our Real Estate and Property team manages gifts of personal property, including art, instruments, artifacts, and equipment. You’ll also support real estate projects and serve as the point of contact for our bench and tree dedication program across all nine IU campuses.
On a given day, you can expect to meet with donors and families to learn about their gifts, partner with appraisers and campus units to find the right home for each piece, and prepare the documentation that makes every gift official. You’ll coordinate movers and logistics, travel to see gifts in person, and keep donors and your team updated at every step. Between visits, you’ll track the progress of each project, document your conversations, and keep campus partners and colleagues in the loop. Your work can range from time at your desk to on-site visits where you work hands-on with the gifts themselves.
If you’re a service-minded project manager who loves working with people, thrives on variety, and sweats the details, apply today!
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Two to four years of professional experience in project coordination, donor or customer service, event or logistics coordination, advancement operations, or a related field
- Experience in a museum, collections, archives, or gift documentation setting preferred
- Experience in hospitality, retail, or other service-focused environments valued
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and a habit of verifying that every item and document matches exactly
- A warm, service-first approach to donors, with the diplomacy to say “not now” or “not without help covering costs” graciously and transparently
- Resourcefulness and flexibility to coordinate donors, movers, and campus partners on short notice when plans change
- Ability to manage 30 to 40 projects at once, tracking every stage from inquiry through stewardship
- Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills, including thorough notes and follow-up after each donor interaction
- Valid driver’s license required, and comfort with frequent travel, including long-distance driving and air travel
- Willingness to do hands-on work, including inspecting items in storage units and homes, and the ability to lift at least 50 pounds
- Working familiarity with databases, project trackers, and document management systems
- Sound judgment and discretion with confidential donor information
- A team-first attitude and willingness to take on whatever the job requires
- Responsible and effective use of AI-enabled tools while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality
The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $85,000 annually. This is a full-time role based in Bloomington or Indianapolis, with on-site work in Bloomington for the first three months as part of onboarding. The position requires travel inside and outside of Indiana, including some time outside regular business hours. This posting will remain open until November 4th, 2026.
